What did you Learn Trading the ES today?

A trap indeed. I trade intraday SPY based on many, many-factored analysis of MIN30 bars, analysis that will usually permit 1 to 3 good trades a day, w/ 80% win probability for 1-3Rs when my trading implementation of the analysis is correct. When the MIN30s configure into a good trading...

    Good song

The Honey here in a not-so-attractive jar :sneaky: ... Herb Alpert, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, & Sgt Peppers the lone pop in my parents vinyl collection in the late 60s -- all of them grooved into my mind. During summer vac 7yrs-old me would play the Sgt Peppers title track over and over...

Too Many Traders Are Cry Babies...

Kudos MarketAddict. Your trade is strikingly similar to another -- (this is a compliment!) https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/tell-me-why-averaging-down-is-a-bad-idea.334476/page-19#post-4909359 Multiple entries follow there, w/ Volpri going thru the thinking that made the trade. Your...

Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

I suppose you think it means "genius" According to www.wordhippo.com, the Latin meanings of "lentus" include: tedious, clogging, clinging, sluggish, tardy, callous, clammy, pliable, harsh, inflexible, rigid, lazy, limp, and dilatory If you were a little sharper you'd know it's both Latin &...

Not sure about your premise, lentus ('lentus' as in French lent for 'slow' ?) — some of the best entries in ET are in discussions started by moronic OPs ...

    Nothing Works!

Al Brooks, https://brookstradingcourse.com R: 1) R Plan for Trade: Ratio of $ToBeWon At Future Time of Planned Exit /$Risked 2) R Result After Trade Ends: Actual $WonORLost/$Risked so a "2R win" means the completed trade $Profits = 2 x $Risked

Tell me why averaging down is a bad idea .

the law of large numbers cannot escape the anomaly, and yes the turkey thinks its keepers are swell until Thanksgiving Day, as Taleb reminds; and there is such a thing as survivorship bias, and in the long run ...

    Saved Charts on TWS!

One more suggested defense: To improve the odds that you lose as little as possible recent config and chart-work when TWS fails to save a session before is shuts down or is killed: Make it a habit to regularly use pauses in your trading to save both the entire session ("File/Save Settings" --...

    Saved Charts on TWS!

In my many-years experience TWS on shut-down has always attempted to save the entire session state, ie both configs AND all windows, including ALL charts, as they are at time of manual shut-down. I've never seen indication that this behavior is configurable, but there' so many configs in TWS...

One of the Best Trading Tips I ever Got

There's more money flow w/ each successively higher TF, so the higher "tides" turn the smaller flows; nevertheless all the flows regardless of their size follow the same physics of motion and can thus be assessed w/ the same methods though it gets more complicated the smaller the flow

One of the Best Trading Tips I ever Got

Another angle on the same idea -- What is experienced intraday as random is greatly due to the multiplely overlayed higher time frames -- a MIN01 chart is produced by all the deliberate, non-random price action decisions of those discretely trading it and MIN02, ..., MIN10, MIN15, MIN20...

w/ the addition of yellow lines to id the channel from which price breaks out, on this updated chart: o Makes it apparent that the wide range bar (WRB) at the end achieved, or almost did, a measured move of the channel. o A measured move, or almost, achieved via a WRB spurting from a trading...

What is the edge in your trade?

What about position players, perhaps not so wise, who would buy their puts "late" -- if mkt gets to 200SMA, might one expect a frenzy of put buying, strikes @200SMA and lower, to buoy the mkt, so that even if it goes lower, it will halt not too far away (20 MONTH SMA ?) Also, it's supposedly...

    TWS chart bug

More workarounds: If using Mosaic, select a different tab, and then re-select the one that has the problem. If not using Mosaic, select a different TWS window, then re-select the one that has the problem. These sometimes re-enable control of candle width.
