    IB's BEST market orders

As I read this thread (not just your post, Vikana), I can't help but wonder why you all are using market orders all the time? When you place a market order, you are giving a license to have money taken from you. On the Nasdaq, you can get some significant slippage if you happen to enter your...

I'd like to blame the market, but truth told, my own bad trading got me for about 450 today. :(

    IB ActiveX

Hi Klin and others, Has anyone had a resolution to this problem? I still get this problem, and have tried installing and uninstalling to no avail. Also tried emailing help@..., also to no avail. (In fact, I didn't get any kind of response beyond the new auto-responder .) I am running...

Funny you mention RTD ("Real Time Data"). I tried it when it was first available, and it is anything but what its name implies -- it only updates every few seconds. At least the sample programs. Crap.

    Hong Kong futures anyone?

Volume is not much - maybe 25k contracts per day in the full sized contract, and around 4k (or less) on the mini. That's not huge, but it's not like you need to trade 100 contracts at a time to make some dough.

Riding your winners and number of positions

Pair trading I understand. What is the intended meaning of the word "crutch" in the statement above?

Riding your winners and number of positions

Heheh.. Don, it seems you're to the point where you automatically flinch when you put up your posts -- expecting everyone to bash on you for "commission mongering". In any case, I have to agree with Don on the entry/exit. (And I'm not a broker, don't trade through Don's or any other JBO...

    Hong Kong futures anyone?

    What issue?

    Bullets

Nasdaq stocks always have that because there is not a central order book. In the 'dealer' market, the stock trades at various prices simultaneously, so it's very very easy and common to have upticks all the time, even during a good selloff.

Responding to item #1, I don't use market orders. Well, okay, I've probably used 5 of them in total, since beginning to trade professionally, and then only in the beginning. The cost of bad fills by using those always tends to be worse than just using a few aggressive limits. If not always...

    Globex 2/8/2002 What happened?

You could easily get stuck in a trade. I was long (of course) - just a few contracts, and was watching very carefully -- I knew we were approaching the cash close and the rally was losing steam, and I had my finger over the transmit to send my liquidating order, which was a limit sell to 1449...

    Hong Kong futures anyone?

Basically for the same reasons def quoted: 1- The hours work well with my schedule. I usually only trade up to the lunch break. I'm on Central time, so for me, that's 7:45pm to 10:30pm. 2- Decent volatility Dislike? Uh.. the inability for me to find a decent quoting/charting package...

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

I haven't heard of any solution. I don't use the web-based tws. I downloaded the latest installed version today, which is "752.6, 2002/01/31 15:00". It is the latest one I can download, but I also get this error.

    Hong Kong futures anyone?

Hello all, I have finally started trading at Hang Seng futures in Hong Kong, via IB. I have no real complaints about that. However, I'm looking for a backup of some sort. Can anyone recommend another brokerage to use as a backup? Thanks!!

    SCALPERS - Any around?

If you don't mind my asking, how profitable are you with this strategy? Do you mean 2 ticks, for a total move of 0.5, or two POINTS (2.0)? Thanks!
