I can agree with this if it happens within a tight circle. My response was specifically targeted toward the poster who suggested viable open source trading code/ideas, which is nonsense.
Turtle strategy was long-term trend following, and Buffet invests long-term on value/fundamental basis. When you start getting into low/mid latency price anomalies, stat arb, and correlations, scalability is a HUGE problem.
Not a team sport. If open source outperformed, Ren-Tec would have been on board. I can't even hire an assistant without fear of leaking intellectual property.
You're better off not commingling funds and going this route:

Less legal bullshit, red tape, and tax issues
Technology has progressed very rapidly. Thirty years ago you could plot a price chart on a computer screen, and then plot a moving average and RSI study on top of it. That was considered cutting edge.
In this day and age, with more processing power, you can employ synthetic charting where an...
You mean like the fleece job they pulled with the recent soda tax? County residents and businesses in an uproar. It's criminal, but no one to hang while they hide behind their political curtain.
I don't think they're defending him, but simply emphasizing how his actions are child's play compared to other mass public robbery schemes, which go unnoticed and unpunished.
I agree. People won't complain to Apple when they dish out 1k for an upcoming iPhone 10, because it's a luxury, but for some reason they feel entitled to drugs and healthcare.
It can, but I don't recommend it for real-time automated trading. There are apps like XLQPlus that can pull real-time data. IB has an Excel DDE for its API. I use Excel as a crude analysis tool by porting trade simulations from a custom testing platform using macros.
Actually we can. I use Excel exclusively, but I analyze a limited amount of time series points and risk/reward variables. No need to engage in more complex analysis unless your lacking a competitive advantage. At that point you can assume your predictive model/trade management are poorly...
Predict not with certainty, but by attempting to establish bias. You can use price magnitude, and even catalysts. Regardless, you need a trading model to navigate. Quant and statistical analysis are mandatory, or else you can't validate anything, unless of course your gifted enough to grow your...
