    Direct Access Stocks and Futures

I am looking for a reliable firm that offers both direct access stock trading and futures trading (direct access or web based). So far I have only found Tradestation Securities and IB (I am inclined to avoid IB due to their lack of support/customer service). Any other suggestions would be...

Stocks as margin for futures account

Is it possible to have stocks that you are holding in a firm's stock trading account to act as margin for futures account with that same firm? Or is it just cash and T-bills? Also, I would appreciate any comments (positive or negative) about Tradestation Securities for stock and futures...

Time to turn in my claws?

Seems like the market will not start going down until at least some of the members of our cosy little club turn bullish. Too much of a bearish consensus here. Sound familiar?

Time to turn in my claws?

I made myself a promise back in July - when CNBC guest commentators start giving short recommendations, then it would be time to go long. This time has come and past, but I am still more short than long. Talk about broken promises! The problem is that I just cannot see higher prices in the...

Time to turn in my claws?

My feelings precisely. Every time you go long - you feel like a fool and every time you short the market you get creamed. Hard to figure out the direction of the market these last few days. We should have topped out days ago, but the market is very stubborn and just does not want to go down...

Problem with Very Low Computer System Resources

So you think it's the software problem? I have Win ME and will upgrade to XP when that comes out. Ken, the DJ news that you get from Cybertrader is an incomplete version. You miss all non-economic news. Eg political news, Fed Beige Book, Treasury comments etc. All you get is the company...

Problem with Very Low Computer System Resources

I run Cybertrader Pro with about 7 charts, 1 Level 2 display and a lot of other stuff. All of this takes up about 70% of my computer's system resources. I also run a separate newsfeed and a quote feed. My computer is a Dell 8100 Pentium 4, 40GB hard drive and 384MB of RAM. I have 2 monitors...

Benefits of having access to an Instinet Terminal

IB is definitely not for me. I need more tools/analytics, not less. Also, I hear there are problems with getting enough shortable shares.

Benefits of having access to an Instinet Terminal

Deeman, thanks for the very useful info. Actually, I am with Cybertrader, so I was just looking for anything that would give me additional insight into what INCA size traders may be up to. I guess, the non-refresh order execution feature is very useful (which Cyber does not have), but if you...

Benefits of having access to an Instinet Terminal

Has anyone used or had access to an Instinet terminal? I hear it shows the complete Instinet book, the number of times the person/institution refreshed (on bid or ask) during one day and past several days (?), shows true sizes etc. What are the exact benefits of having Instinet terminal. And...

    3 monitor set-up

Wirehead, So are you running 8 monitors and a TV off of your PC? That's pretty impressive! What kind of a pc is it (memory, HD and other specs)? Can I also ask what kind of trading software are you using?

    3 monitor set-up

All right, you convinced me Bucky Lee. Good bye Jeronimo Pro, hello (again) Matrox G450.

    3 monitor set-up

That's good to know. Where is the info you are referring to?

    3 monitor set-up

The original G450 was really easy to install and configuire. My question is: how will the computer recognize that I now have 3-4 monitors and not just 2? The Matrox software only has an option of DUAL monitors. So how will it look on my screen?

    3 monitor set-up

I currently have 2 monitors running off a Matrox G450 Dual-head card. I am thinking of adding a 3rd monitor. Can anybody suggest whether I need to get a NEW multi-display card (like Appian Jeronimo Pro - it costs too much, though), or can I simply add another single or dual-display card to my...

    Cybertrader Pro connectivity issues

I will speak to Telocity on Monday. They opened a ticket for this issue. I just realized that the packet loss was happening in telocity's network, the ip address indicated telocity (tlct.net) as the host. Not Cyber's problem. Thanks everyone for your imput.

    Cybertrader Pro connectivity issues

Stock777 You described my exact problem. Who is your DSL provider. Mine is DirectTV (Telocity). I ran tracert and test2.cybercorp.com and both came back with packet losses. I tested it on Saturday and it came back fine. I guess the problem was with my DSL provider, since none of the IP...

    Cybertrader Pro connectivity issues

Ken, But how do you explain that both DSL (on my PC) and AOL (on my laptop) were having problems with packet loss at the same time? I will definitely consider getting a back-up DSL provider. Also, what are your general comments on Cyber? Would you recommend anyone else. I am having...

    Cybertrader Pro connectivity issues

Also, does anyone know a broker other than Cyber that has a similar "1 commission within 2 minute execution" commission schedule? This seems to be working out fine for me right now and seems to keep the commission costs fairly low.
