    Anti-trading. Dollar Cost Averaging

It was not that many years since the equity in China and Russia got wiped out. Pretty misleading to pick one of the many index in the world to demonstrate your point and talk as if it was a sure thing. Of cause, the whole point of investing is to take risk, otherwise you would be earning the...

The thing is you can only get what you have saved. When you only put in little money you can't expect to suddenly withdraw huge amount. Here is a revised calculation with 1.5% dividend assumed and reinvested, also saving rate reduced to 15% and contribution curve smoothed. (I don't have...

Why would anyone invest in these funds?

The premise behind this philosophy is very simple. Company make profits. Of cause not all of them will be profitable, but as a whole they are making profits. You are too focused on the valuation when Buffett is focusing on acquiring cash flow. If you looked at the dividend history of S&P500 even...

Why would anyone invest in these funds?

S&P 500 is ok as diversification because it's performance does not suck. It is totally different from "diworsification" in which you add uncorrelated investments with dubious returns. I mean, you can't even be sure the fund is +ev, if they earn 0 after fee over 4 years then actually you lose...

Is Warren Buffett blind to tail risks/risks of ruin?

I am sure his goal aren't maximize value of his portfolio so talks about the Kelly are moot. Why all-in and not play it safe? If all rich guys nit up and "play safe" the country will be hopeless. Some of the guys are here to shape the world, and will not stop taking risk because they have...
