    Elder's "Trading for a Living"

I enjoyed Elder's book. He gives a lot of good explanations of the basic trading concepts and definitions. For experienced traders however, it is lacking in detail. Also, it is more geared to position trading, than daytrading. In addition to the books mentioned by the other posters, there...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

Fri and Mon only entered a few orders, resulting in no fills. Today, entered 25 shorts at yesterdays close. 1 fill on KO. Luckily covered quickly on ISLD for .15 before he ran it. Considering taking him OFF THE LIST...

    X Div Dates

Check out http://www.companyboardroom.com Yahoo finance isn't bad either. For important divs (i.e. those that I expect to collect or avoid paying!) I always comfirm the date on the company's own website.

    Bullets & Conversions

This is good advice from Tharp. Don't learn the hard way, like I did... I got caught on this a couple of years ago on Time Warner. Had a conversion on TWX during the time of the AOL takeover deal. On expiration day TWX was trading at around $40, give or take .25. My strike was $40...

    TonySanDiego trades an option

TonySD I trade equities only, and was wondering how this is working out? Looks like EXPE is up about 1.50, and your put is down less than a dollar. Keep us posted (pun intended) :D

    Don's Openings, Part 5

For "breakouts", check out MER for example: he gaps it up $1.00 and runs it from there close at 35.90 open at 36.90 and that is the low Also LEH, he gapped it up $2.00, and that was the low!! SBC is another, although he came down .10 before he ran it. I call these "anti-opening"...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

Thought I'd try the "breakout" strategy instead of the classic opening order strategy, given the 3% gap up we were expecting. Entered 30 orders, all buys, .3% above yesterdays close. Obviously, got no fills, since they all gapped much higher than that. Good trading all...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

From what I've seen on news stocks that have a delayed opening due to an imbalance, these work only about 50% of the time. So a bit less than a stock with no news. Logic would say that it should work more of the time, since in their infinite wisdom, the specialists, company, and NYSE...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

Hi all, Been doing OPG for about 2 years, new to board and thought I'd join in... 6 fills, all short, 4 pharmaceuticals. All turned red immediately. Started to cover, and due to panic and REDI freezing, I inadvertently went long PG 800 shares, which actually helped out for about .15...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

tonysan diego: I noticed there was some news on HRB that didn't come out until around 2:00pm on the day he gapped it down on the open and then tanked it further. (I think it was the 9th) Some broker started their coverage on HRB with a sell rating, and also mentioned some other bad...
