    futures prop

I think your definition of prop firm is wrong. At a prop futures firm you risk zero money, are given buying power, many of them pay a salary until you get going, but you give up a big percentage of profit but then can work up to a decent split at most prop futures firms. Your commission rates...

why all the crying about bullets?

Do you really want to know? It was a phrase someone I know use to use when they were getting hosed in a position. So they would yell out "I am getting cornholed". So back in the nasdaq trading- pre decimal days if they had a ton of shares and goldman was suddenly a big sell, they were...

why all the crying about bullets?

Oh I forgot trading econ numbers that turned out bad. Having bullets and a good news service you good get in on the first reaction of the announcement. Say you have consumer confidence number expected at 85 and it comes in at 77. You could hit that for a fast 2- 5K shares and get a quick...

why all the crying about bullets?

Well first the trading firm made a lot of money from them, which helped offset the squeeze from commission rates and ecn rates dropping (the line of straight passthru ECN fees was a BS line used by many firms for a long time). So this might take down the shaky firm in the business. There are...

    30 YR Bond Issuing

Thanks for the update. I wish they would signal that they were going to start issuing them again because I think they are great to trade. Nice big tick to scalp. Kind of reminds me of Nasdaq stocks 4 yrs ago but more liquid. I just don't want volume to slowly die in them

    30 YR Bond Issuing

Does anyone know or have they heard if the government is going to start issuing new 30yr bonds again? I know they announced awhile ago that they were going to stop but I have also heard talk that they were going to start again. Does anyone have an update on this?

What will be the end result of the elimation of bullets be on pro firms/traders?

That was proposed several weeks ago. The only surprise was that the bullets where eliminated so soon. However the top 300 stocks will not necessarily cover the stocks you trade or will help you much if you trade news stocks that are not on the list.

What will be the end result of the elimation of bullets be on pro firms/traders?

I definitely think the bullets being gone will really hurt many firms because there was a HUGE markup in bullets. How many firms can afford to give up another revenue source with trading vol down and with commission prices under pressure like they have been that last couple of years. It will...

    Most popular stocks for daytrading

Well you just guaranteed yourself that you will never make money trading futures. I know several successful futures traders. You are just looking in the wrong places.

    Leading Industry Groups

Chips and Bios for Nasdaq, Banks for S&P. All three breakout at same time you can get a nice move with follow thru. If say chips and bios are diveraging then moves in index tend to be more choppy and less follow thru. Sometimes you get a break in these sectors with up to a 5 minute lead or...

    worldco/hold brothers

I will believe that when I see it. They had several opportunities to compete that they blew because of bad business decisions and management. They too were on very shaky ground not that long ago.

    Nikkei down 466 points!

The amount of time you are trading does not necessarily dictate the size that you trade. I have a friend who has been trading futures less then a year and trades 60 lots of the big bond contract. Just because you can't see yourself doing it does not mean it can't be done.

    How did everyone do today?

I second that about AMT4SWA. I don't post that much or visit anymore because most posts here are so negative and it wears on me. So many are stuck in the gloom and doom that they forget or don't think about the fact that there are traders pulling in big money (100K plus) every month. I...

    The next big thing

I have heard the prediction for a commodities bull market from a few large top down bond money managers. It seems there are quite a few people who share your prediction. Now hopefully we can just get a few more commodities to become largely electronically traded.

    David Floyd

IF it is free why not try it and see for yourself. The price sounds pretty steep though per month. However it will probably be justified in trading terms -- "it is only a 10 cent trade on 5000 shares to cover the cost of the service". Although Dave might be an alright guy he sure has been...

    Who's from Chicago?

Yes I am looking for prop firms or other kinds of trading firms where I am trading the firms capital. Basically I am looking for whatever offers a good opportunity. I am staying away from shops that seem to be chop shops like many of the stock firms have turned into. For the right opportunity...

    Who's from Chicago?

canyonman00 suggested I come by this thread after I started another thread about my trip out to chicago. Anyhow I will just cut and paste what I wrote on the other thread. I am going to Chicago next week for a week of interviews with trading firms. Since I have never been to Chicago I would...

Going to Chicago - any suggestions?

I will check out the other thread. Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately I will be coming back from Chicago on the 30th (hopefully with some trading offers) so I will not be in town when you get back.
