How long does 7 need to hang to get another 2 year window

I just recently had a situation where I was in the process of hanging my Series 7,55, and 63 licenses with a firm. Although the firm notified me that I had been registered on behalf of that firm I still needed to take a continuing education class, which I am going to in the next day, before the...

Move to Chicago to become a Trader??

My opinion is that if you happen to get into some kind of prop firm you will not learn much about trading. A lot of those firms are not even hiring right now as they are not doing that hot. Most of the prop firms were geared toward trading spreads, hitting econ numbers (which does not work...

    Orange County, CA???

I would say maybe Huntington Beach might fit what you are looking for. IT is laid back, you have the beach, the women, plenty to do down there, and not as high profile as Newport is, and a younger crowd for the most part. I would think that is a good compromise for what you are looking for.

This mkt is the most inconsisten thing I"ve ever seen.

Totally agree with you. There are rooms full of prop futures traders all trying to do the same thing and many of the firms are not doing that hot with this approach anymore. However most have nothing else to go too or they are waiting for things to "get good" again. Also the firms dominating...

    Orange County, CA???

Well the opening shot in the beginning of the OC looks like a place here called Newport Coast - which is basically an area along that coast where there are giant houses. It is a newer development. However I don't watch the OC so can't comment on the rest. However just like anywhere else the...

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

That is good. I know they have a lot of traders and would be sad to see if their were problems. Is the no TT thing really effecting the performance of the traders because they were use to TT or is it because the new software has problems?

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

Don't know if this applies to refco trading services prop futures business but cnbc just said they are starting to upwind proprietary positions of the firm. Does that include trading at Refco prop futures division (Macfutures)?

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering with all the Refco stuff going on right now in the news, freezing withdraws from accts, ect, if it is effecting the traders there at all.

    scalping the e-mini

I have seen you mention his scale in method. Is that scaling into a position as it goes against your original entry or is that adding to your position as a trade goes your way? Thanks.

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

I just wanted to see if anyone at a Refco trading services offices has any word if things will change for their prop trading arm of their business (used to be MacFutures). Are you still able to get your payouts? Is there any disruption in your ability to trade?

learning curve from trading listed to nasdaq

I think it depends on how you trade. If you are trading off of universal market principles then it should not be that bad. If your trading is based on trying to figure out what a specialist was doing then I would say a lot longer. If you were looking at univeral market principles plus...

    GHCO offer (London), need help

I know a lot of firms in Chicago and none of them have you pay them back if you leave. That is a scam and would not be legal in the US. That is part of the risk of going prop. You give up a large percentage of profit in return they should "teach" you what they are doing and take some risk on...

    Chicago Prop firms

Wonder if we were ever at the same place, but then again a lot of the firms were based on the exact same model including the econ number thing. Yea the master one contract thing is also a joke. What about master a trading style that you can apply to any market and then just change markets to...

    Chicago Prop firms

BINGO!! Wonder why a lot of the firms are not doing that great right now because they are all based on the same trading model and most won't change. It works for some people but hard to have a floor of 80 traders and force then all to do the same thing. It worked when it was still inefficient...

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

It is entirely possible for someone to have 4-5 approaches taking advantage of market anamolies that all basically stop working at the same time. If you find a good one you can make a lot of money with it while it lasts. In my view the window of opportunity where a strategy works for new...

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

I think somewhere in one of the posts I claimed IN MY OPINION and I think for most but not all traders. That leaves the other side open that for a few traders it is all gravy. I have traded both ways and for me way better fit is not scalping for tic. By the way I have mostly been talking...
