    My 1st day trading futures

Man I hope you're Demo trading. I think you can do this with IB. Use One cancels all orders with an attached stop. It's not something I would do. You could put a stop buy and a stop sell either side of the market and when one filled the other would be your stop until you adjust it.

    My 1st day trading futures

Just a suggestion; If your stops are consistantly getting hit and reversing why not move your entry to where you would normally place your stops. Then put a tight stop on that entry?

    Trade Plan (A Reality Check)

If you really want to help new traders you need a calculator that will show the expected draw down for each of your chart patterns/trading strategies. Most focus on how much they can make. You should really focus on how much you can lose.

    Trade Plan (A Reality Check)

I agree; This will just get beginners to trade more contracts to make more money. I doubt very much that many on this site will have proven data to input. How many beginners have actually figured out their win/loss ratio. How many know what their average loss is or their average win. If...

Trading Plan - AHG community project

Good outline; You might want to consider the following. Do you have a disaster plan? Do you have a procedure for getting out of or hedging a trade when something out of the ordinary happens? What do you do if your Internet goes down and you’re in the middle of a trade? Is your...

    The Science of Technical Analysis

Firstly I don’t look at a trade that goes against me as an error. More as a good trade with a bad result. I am under the impression, mistaken as it may be, that by using TA I give myself a higher probability of success than if I used a random entry. Care to elaborate on Jacks exercise?

    The Science of Technical Analysis

TA is a tool in an overall system. It has to be combined with an exit strategy, money management and position sizing to be effective. You only use it when it works. Get out of the trade when it doesn’t. If you use a moving average cross and take every signal, then let the trade run you...

why am I such a prick

Because the internet make you anonymous. In real life you’re probably a real nice guy who wonders if being a prick is all it’s cracked up to be. On ET you can be anyone you want to be. All the best on your experiment. You Prick: :D

    My first day live

Fair enough: The question you have to keep asking yourself is why did i do what I did. Dandxg's post is worth a second look. If you don't have a written plan take the time to write one. Good trading

    My first day live

Hey Drew; don't despair. Losing on your first day could be a good thing. The question is did you learn anything of value? Give us a blow by blow of your beating. Let us know what you did and more importantly why you did it. Just writing it down may be a great help. Best in the future.

    Jamey's Trading Journal

I'd be interested to hear more about your plan. Not your set-ups or method but your over-all plan. Do you have a written plan, covering the following: Measurable objectives, trading capital available and how you will protect it, what stocks you will trade and why, position size...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Thanks for the hard work. If/when you add chart examples don't forget to show examples of when these setups fail. Taking stops is a big part of being profitable. Good trading

    The Old Fart Thread

I don't think you're a Old Fart unless you were in the market before the crash of 87. I was there and survived. It's tough to injure yourself by jumping out of a basement window. :)
