    Tastytrade

Today's nugget is that they have researched gap fills and concluded it's not a good idea of fading 3 standard deviation gaps. WOW, really whoda thunk not to fade breakaway gaps, yet they don't go the next step of going with those large gaps. I must stop watching, my sides are sore.

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

I think the posts of "jamesbp" have saved a lot of "traders" from a lot of "whining" by illustrating some of the folly of tastytrade. Those posts have a lot more value than a great percentage of posts on ET.

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

Well now, the challenge has been issued. I don't recall any posts being personal and were restricted to trading concepts and PnL. Why should it matter that this is the main thrust of the banned poster? Maybe this is all he/she cares to post about. I don't get it, aside from sponsor pressure...

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

Perhaps someone at the bottom of the page didn't like the heat? I dunno.

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

Why does it indicate that the poster in question has 117 other ET posts?

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

The most recent was that selling "high probability" strangles is the way to go. Their own research, even from early Fall 2014 shows the superiority of selling straddles instead. When things like this get glossed over by TT it makes one wonder what else may be glossed over? Beside P/L, because...

WOW! What happened to the tastytrade thread?

I've seen a lot of tastytrade and didn't really see any falsehoods in the thread? Lots of concepts were called and demonstrated to be wrong, but false? Examples?

On a holiday afternoon, a thread gets pulled. Who called in a chip?

Reminder, that guide only applies to expiration. Profitability can come along at any time prior to expiration as well.

Need your help on put spreads

That's not what the OP did. he/she sold a simple put spread with April expiration 655/650 $407 risk $93 max reward. On March 20,2015 he/she closed the position for a small gain upon revisiting the potential risk/reward of the position.

Computer won't start up all of a sudden...

I had a similar problem recently after moving residences. Fan would come on high but no boot. Found a site that recommended removing and reinstalling the DIMM. Worked instantly! Hopefully you have an easy fix too!

Is anyone consistently profitable with the ES?

Yes. Rough outline of one setup that I use is fade the high or low of the 1st 30m period RTH, in the 2nd 30m period. Captures 2 points a very high percentage of the time. There are a few additional nuances (stop placement and exact entry) that I apply. YMMV

Easy edges in the markets for retail participants?

Easy edges is a loaded question. I have found an edge that is very easy to trade. It took significant time to identify this edge. I'm sure there are many more similar to my setup. I've trade it since 1998, average 2 trades per year, average 41% return per year. When one identifies a real...

What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

C'mon! There's only like 3 interviews out there, do your homework. Hint, it's in the last, longest one. You can view it on Tasty Trade if you can't navigate through Google. Yeesh what BS.

What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

Your prior post: There was no 50+% return once her AUM grew into millions... (I wrote several summaries on her interviews and I usually write down numbers when she mentions them...)* I really do not understand your point. Are you saying she didn't make 53% or that she didn't say she made...

What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

Yup she lost 4.5% in August 2011 (4-5 million) but finished the year up 53% trading 100M AUM. Clear as day, what she said.

Vertical spreads, notional value, and risk management

On a debit spread, you are hoping for the trade to go towards the OTM short leg. That means it's profitable. On a credit spread you want the opposite. For the trade to be profitable it should travel, or stay away, from your short leg. Sell a put, hoping underlying goes long. (away from...
