A couple of buddies of mine were considering designing their own execution platform. What features does everyone think are absolutly neccessary? What other features would be good?

    IB trading platform (E-Minis)

I still believe what I was first told about IB. That is that they are making money on the order flow. If your fills are 1 tick worse than they otherwise would be, your commission is now $17.30. That's a big difference.

    Spread Trading

looks alright. I don't normally trust systems unless I developed them. If they make so much money why are they for sale? Just yesterday I came across some wonderful execution software for spread trading. One click will do both legs of the trade. Thinking about giving it a try!

    DT Futures

I didn't like their software! It looked very slow. I would rather pay a little higher rate for JTrader. You will probably save in the long run!

    How often does Globex crash??

I have never had any problems. Must be broker/software related for the most part. Globex has only gone down once in the past few months that I am aware of. It only lasted a short period of time too.

    S & P mini

But they now have globex terminals surrounding the pit. When the guys trading the minis see goldman buying, they front run them. Since executions are faster in minis, minis are now leading the big contract.

    S & P mini

Sarasota; sachabr makes a good point. Size in mini will typically get filled by a pit local with a hand held Globex terminal after the pit has turned. Thus you're invariably giving up an edge. No big deal since size always must make a concession.(That's what makes markets move, eh). However a...

    S & P mini

I don't trade that large of size myself but I have seen people who have. 25 lots are generally filled almost instantly within 1-2 ticks using market orders on J-Trader. Even orders for 50 contracts get quick executions like that. Haven't yet seen anyone place an order for 100 contracts.

    eFloorTrade Auto Xecutor

eFloorTrade wrote to that api. That is exactly what their product is. I have seen versions of tradestation for sell on ebay and other places outside of the US. It is my understanding that anyone in the US has to open an account with tradestation and pay $795 for the product. Maybe someone from...

    Price improvement on minis??

I have talked to many people who have used ib and they say almost every market order they place gets filled .25 away from the market. Could that be the reason for such low commission rates?

futures, EMINI: web sites for learning

You should be able to find the following margins at almost all futures brokers. $2500 per contract for daytrading emini s&p $5000 per contract if you hold overnight. Starting with 5k does make it hard to make money because you have no buying power. However, I have seen several people win...
