    Card to support 4 monitors

Thanks for this feedback, I've wondered if that connector was better.

And a DMS-59 connector too, I don't know if that's an advantage or not.

I don't think they do, but we'll see how they work. I got a couple to try them out. Looks like there is a firepro 2270 out now too.

Yeah, 21.5 inch seem the sweet spot for size/resolution. 30 inch doesn't gain you very much in terms of resolution, and they are huge physically. My 23 inch screens are just a bit bigger than 21.5, so I can accept that.

Monitor choice really is personal preference. I have a 26" that seemed way to big in terms of how big it is compared with it's resolution. It's a samsung, and no vesa mounts on it either. Again, it's really what you like. If you like things bigger (say your eyesight is not great for example)...

Going back to video cards, what is the advantage of an NVS 295 over a Firepro 2260? Monoprice sells active adapters for $15, and amazon sells female mini to full size male displayport 6 inch adapters for $7, so for about $22 an adapter you should be able to get 2 DVI ports like the NVS 300...

    Card to support 4 monitors

There are cables that go from dvi to hdmi, this one is single link (1920x1200 I believe maximum resolution): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270114 I don't see why you'd need to return a monitor over getting a $12 cable.

It is a lil' weird. I agree. On a side note, it seems the NVS 300 has a competitor from firepro: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FireMV-2260-Catalog-Category/dp/B005FMIIK2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388223635&sr=1-2&keywords=firepro+2260 It drives two at 2560x1600

Not on the FirePro 2460 though. They have to be pairs of two on that card apparently. Or so say the specifications. They even say same make and model monitor, though I don't now if that really matters. This is what the ati pdf says: Bottom left side if first page...

Same resolution, not sure if it cares what make they are, but only in pairs of two. So two monitors can be a different resolution than the other two.

Note that Compeve is the reseller, not amazon. This one is a bit more expensive, but it's from newegg same model chipset: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0A5-003T-00012 Or if you want to stay with PNY, newegg has that one too but for 110.

From your previous post, this is the model motherboard you have: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V_LX/ Looking at it in the picture it has two PCI Express 3.0/2.0 slots, and three older style PCI slots. A lot of pci slots for a newer board actually. PCI Express is used for video...

    Card to support 4 monitors

While I can't speak for 4 monitors, as I usually run 3 on my machines, I've never had problems running three on radeons. But maybe there are compromises that I don't notice. I've also run 3 with nvidia consumer cards as well.

    Card to support 4 monitors

(I'd have edit my post to add this, but it wouldn't let me). I can think of another reason to buy an NVS, if your power supply is stock, not 850w, 1000w, etc as home builds have, these cards can run many monitors on probably a stock 250w supply. Nice to know such can be done, but most traders...

    Card to support 4 monitors

If you want fanless, there are a lot of radeon hd5450's out there that have no fans, and power 2 displays each if I recall correctly. I'm sure they will long outlast your processors performance needs, running all day. For an at-home trader, with one computer, seems like a good option for the...

    Card to support 4 monitors

I've got the 2gb version of this one, as a second card, runs silent. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125451 Gigabyte is pretty good it seems on video cards. Just noticed mine says "overclock version". Runs silent evenso, factory overclocked to 975mhz. I like...

He'll need an active displayport to HDMI adapter too, which are around $30. Not to mention no VESA mounts if he wants to put them on different stands.

You can get one of these cables per dvi output, they convert to hdmi for the monitors: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270114

Not sure about his board, but most newer motherboards don't have the pci slots anymore. Furthermore, even if they do, if you try to run a display on pci express and also pci on the new boards they might not like that. I tried it on my new motherboard and the pci express card gave graphic...
