    Spreading QM/CL through IB

Any easy way to flatten out a bunch of offsetting QM/CL (2 long x 1 short) positions through IB without incurring leg risk?

    QM Stop spike 8/14 8pm

Apparently the answer is yes, the Globex Control Center can adjust a long trade > than your limit price as crazy as it sounds. Cost me several hundred dollars on an order that would have filled normally AT my limit price (a few hours later) if some shithead didn't fat finger the QM down a...

    QM Stop spike 8/14 8pm

Is there any webpage or way to find out straight from Globex whether these trades were adjusted or busted? I was on the good end of the spike, and had a resting buy limit order adjusted ABOVE my limit price (this is a first). Can they do this, and how can I find out if my broker is...

Globex - DOM Time & Sales

Anybody know if it's possible to get a historical snapshot of the Globex DOM (5 deep) for ES at a particular time, preferably without costing a fortune?

    Health Insurance

Group plan or individual? Individual rates for HMO plans in New York are some of the most hideous in the country due to guaranteed coverage underwriting rules: http://www.ins.state.ny.us/hmorates/html/hmonewyo.htm

    1000-lot QM monkey

Anyone see this character buy them at 118.25 yesterday and sell at 121 this morning? Puts the whole order out there! Why is someone trading 1000 QM's from a commission standpoint? Is it some way to get around position limits?

What EXACTLY Optiver -the hedge fund sued by CFTC- did?

Yes, but there are rules. The subtle difference here being they held a 3rd party to execute their market on close order on an artificially marked close. I agree it's a bullshit case being trumped up due to the speculator witch hunt, but CFTC is well within their bounds to enforce it.

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

B1S2 - Slightly off topic, but since it's very relevant for stock indices, would you be kind enough to share your technical assessment of crude on a daily and weekly timeframe? Have the typical turtle and donchian stops been hit for long term trend followers on energy?

What EXACTLY Optiver -the hedge fund sued by CFTC- did?

They would basically submit a market on close order to buy 10,000 CL's guaranteed on the last tick, then short the piss out of the market in the last 60 seconds to artificially mark the last tick as low as possible locking in a profit. It's basically a routine CFTC enforcement action against...

CFTC Makes an Example Out of the Little Guy (Optiver) - Oil Manipulation Charges

"The CFTC said the firm attempted to 'bang the close' by amassing large positions just before markets closed, forcing prices up, then selling them quickly, driving down prices and pocketing the difference." http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/24/markets/cftc/?postversion=2008072411 Sounds like a...

    CL spread behavior at expiration

Anyone have a link to historical data of how CL near month spreads behave around expiration? I'm specifically interested in contango situations following a significant break like we've seen the last week. AUG-SEP was trading at about a 60 cent debit going out on the close.

Peanut gallery is bullish on CL

Now they're net bearish at $129, you can't make this stuff up. "Ten of 22 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News, or 45 percent, said prices will fall through July 25. Seven of the respondents, or 32 percent, said oil will rise and five forecast little change. Last week 63 percent said futures...

    QM slips thru IB

Right, but they're not triggered until it trades at your stop price so you still have the problem I described. Is there an IB option to trigger based on the bid/ask touching your stop price for GLOBEX based contracts?

    Verizon Wireless 5gig Month Useage

Hi Austin - You may come close to the limit, but it's very user/setup specific. Best idea is to get one of these tools and measure your use for a day or two: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-download-upload-meter.htm It may all be moot anyway, make sure you're happy with the...
