    A low latency E-Mini strategy

I have several strategies that take advantage of fast multi-level moves in various E-Minis. But, my mind is always churning and wondering about other possibilities. And since I do not have a setup capable of executing or even testing this low latency idea... I thought I'd throw it out there...

    Spoofing becoming illegal

I guess I can agree with that. I'm not a fan of the fragmentation. However, I am an even less of a fan of Eric. Anytime I see an article of his quoted, it gets me going. :) So many are so quick to throw HFT under the bus and Eric seems to be the ringleader of misinformation.

    Spoofing becoming illegal

The problem is that the data does not speak for itself. Eric is well known for jumping to conclusions and creating hysteria where it doesn't always need to be.

    Spoofing becoming illegal

All that shows is that the trader used an order router that leaked information.

    Zero-commission stock brokerages

Okay, I was generalizing. Some just use their own ATS or route orders to where they'll get a nice rebate and not the best execution.

    Zero-commission stock brokerages

And how is that different from the other brokers out there? They're all doing the same thing.

    Why strategies make money

Many complain about the influx of low latency automated systems in the markets these days. Personally, I think it is great. Many of these HFT strategies are doing the same things, which creates predictable situations that can be taken advantage of by an automated trader (and maybe a manual...

    Why strategies make money

I used to run a completely automated #1 in the equities market. It ran all day long in a couple of dozen symbols. For a couple of years it did well, but the returns are no longer there, so I've moved on. I'm now running a mostly automated (some trader input is needed throughout the day) that...

    Python to trade futures?

Is this your software? Not completely clear what it could do for me, but it seems interesting enough.

    Spoofing becoming illegal

How is this even possible? If you are hitting the same exchange, the guy cannot cancel it. Unless there is information leakage from you or your broker.

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

Not sure what to make of all the accusations. But, I have to say, this has been one entertaining thread!

How did you get into automated trading? Whats your story (particularly non-programmers)?

I have no idea. For me, I still sit at the computer monitoring even though it is automated. You never know if something will go awry. I'm a pretty patient person, but not patient enough to sit around waiting for an automated swing trade signal to show.

How did you get into automated trading? Whats your story (particularly non-programmers)?

Okay, I'll bite. I used to be a discretionary point and click trader in the late 90s and did okay. Nothing spectacular. Had some programming abilities all along, but finally several years later, I forced myself to learn C# and become a better programmer. I had many strategies over the years...

    HFT

It may help if you provide a bit of information... What is your definition of HFT? Are you a discretionary trader or algo (not sure how in this day and age HFT can be discretionary, but you never know what someones definitions are)? How are you setup now and why isn't it working? etc, etc.

    Tradelink users? Issues?

I don't have anything to recommend. Sorry. If you don't mind switching to Java, there is another open source project called Algo Trader. I don't know how good it is or not. Yes, it would be nice to see a TL fork with developers. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that is going to happen. The...

IEX WARNING: Brokers are allowed to jump ahead of your bids & offers!

IEX wants everyone to think how they've leveled the playing field, only to allow que jumping by favored partners. And guess what, those favored partners may be HFT. Who needs hide not slide orders when you can jump the que at any price and at any time (unlike HNS)?

    Tradelink users? Issues?

Tradelinker, I don't think you understand the history of Tradelink and the road that Pracplay went down. 1) Tradelink was an open source piece of software that anyone could edit the source code and hopefully contribute back. 2) Pracplay, I believe wrote the base platform and contributed the...

    Tradelink users? Issues?

I'm glad you like it. However, the original intention of Tradelink as an open source project was that we could take it and modify it however we wanted. Pracplay one day decided to start removing functionality (including whole apps from the source) so that it could only be used with Glean, a...

Avoid sub-penny front runners on IEX?

Okay. Now I understand what you are saying (wasn't clear to me before). What you described was probably happening with an internalizer not necessarily with a dark pool. While I wouldn't call this front running as it doesn't fit the definition, I do see how this can be frustrating. The answer...

MMing to improve with Reg NMS reform?

My mistake. I assumed you were a trader, not an investor. If you are occasionally buying and selling for investment purposes, you could seek out a broker that allows those things (I'm pretty sure Interactive Brokers allows routing to specific venues). However, I don't think it is necessary...
