What index are you trading? Have you considered index futures as that will save on your commission costs?

I had the same questions as travis but I chatted with IB support and they actually helped me out and close out the positions. It can be very confusing I am glad they are making changes.

I started with a decently funded account but blew it away almost in one year trading everything from stocks, futures and forex. There was no beginners luck for me. I learned a lot in the process but have not been able to find an edge which will allow me to make it back.

If you have the available margin in an actual account you would just sell 75k USDCHF and you would be shorting USDCHF 75k. The fact that your base currency is CAD wont change anything you would just borrow the required funds in the currency required to make the trade. I hope that helps.

Looks like you just don't have the margin to complete the trade and it is giving 0 usd as the margin just because it is a simulated account.

Try upgrading to Windows 7 64bit, that is what I am running and no issues at all. I don't have any hands on experience with XP-64bit but I have heard a lot about compatibility issues.

I gotta agree with Redneck. Trading has made me realize and see all or most of my character flaws and its damn scary... even scarier that I can't seem to be able to control those flaws.
