This whole affair was just declared illegal recently (mid-December), melting, transporting for the purposes of melting, etc. Prior to that (at the time of the original posting), it was not illegal. A simple google search on the idea will tell you all about the recent events and the fact that it...

Another hedge fund on the brink

Don't know anything about the story, however, I doubt that any large hedge fund is in any serious trouble from a 60+ cent move in January Natural Gas.

    Hedge Fund for sale.

You are talking about the "Fund", this thread is about ownership of the actual "Management Company" that collects the fees (performance and management) for running the Fund. The investors in the Fund may get rich, but the owner of the Management Company of a successful Fund gets the richest.

    Hedge Fund for sale.

$15 Million assumes a P/E of 5 with earnings of $3 Million per year. Very rich on the private market especially for this type of business. One major down year or down period can ruin this business (remember Amaranth?). Investors are not locked-up (assumption) and the business line is volatile. I...

    Hedge Fund for sale.

No, not kidding and that is about what it is worth. Admittedly, I had to make some broad assumptions like the Senior manager is also a portfolio manager and some other generic assumptions. The net profits should be about $3-5 Million on gross revs of about $7 Million. 30% annual performance will...

    Hedge Fund for sale.

Fund is probably worth about $12-15 Million in a private sale. Probably would trade at a valuation of $100 Million in an IPO and probably has a real value of about $25 million. That is my best guess given the information that you provided. There are a lot of missing pieces, however.

    Oct 98 Japanese Yen Chart

I traded through it. I remember the day(s). We were on longer-term trendline support with many looking to sell a break of the trendline (I think it was around 132 after having come off a high of around 148 a few weeks before). Tiger sold $15 Billion between 12 midnight and 5 am EST on a break of...

    Best individual health insurance?

Not really. I think it's a combination of inherently stupid and uneducated people (not just indigenous to the Muslims), charismatic leadership, hopeless conditions, religious fanatacism and scapegoatism.

Read every word and believe it.

I agree with you. However, when they start to gain ground, achieve victories, garner support, gain momentum, and become increasingly emboldened and empowered, the world needs to wake up, take notice and take some action against these fanatical forces. Sadly, this is the precarious state we find...

Read every word and believe it.

I don't understand, are you trying to say that believing these comments are comparable to believing Nazi propaganda against the Jews? Are you trying to draw this comparision as in, "you can't believe everything you read?" Are you suggesting that we can just dismiss anything and everything that...
