    New Dell 30" LCD

Ok, you can buy it now: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/monitor_3007wfp?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs $2199 They are also offering graphic cards but the card prices dont look like bargains to me (nVidia GeForce 7800GTX Graphics Card $699, e-GeForce 7800 GTX 256 MB...

    Dual Hub ISP redundancy?

It is impossible to shield yourself from the possibility of losing your connection for any period of time. Even if the device automatically switches from one ISP to the other when it detects a failure, all connections going over the failed connection have to be re-established...

How do you backup your system?

I dunno, the article said that another student had already had a similar experience so the idea of losing it wasnt unknown to her: Not like it takes a lot of effort to place a copy of it on the laptop she is working on either. Maybe she did have previous (earlier) versions saved elsewhere...

How do you backup your system?

Thanks for the link to Ghost 10.0 hcour - looks like Ghost has changed a lot since the last time I used (hated those dos-level boot diskettes with finicky NIC drivers) Getting a little off-topic here but did anyone see the article about that woman who almost lost the only copy of her master's...

How do you backup your system?

I'm not sure how Acronis works now that Spike500 related his experience with restoring an image (which I have never done with that product) however regardless I would personally never do what you are suggesting as a defragmentation technique because it increases the chances of major data loss...

    New Dell 30" LCD

Problem with bundling a video card with the monitor is that everyone has different needs in a video card and there are so many different interface types these days, its not like its just PCI and AGP anymore. I dont think USB has anywhere near the bandwidth to do it. In fact I think the...

    New Dell 30" LCD

LOL, I like the rocket scientist on the first page that guessed the price will be $1000. Hello, McFly? The 24" Dell LCD costs more than that. Sheeesh. I hope it comes out cheap too, will definitely have a price-lowering affect on the whole "smaller" 20-24 inch LCD market.

    New Dell 30" LCD

I disagree, while a 5" monitor with 3000 x 3000 resolution would be an impressive technological achievement I still wouldnt enjoy using it for my purposes. Both size and resolution are important. [Edit: Just read Spike500's post after I already wrote this and I agree completely]

    New Dell 30" LCD

^2 means squared. You really shouldnt square the diagonal since thats not fair either, but simply counting diagonals is definitely wrong too. You need to multiple the heigh & width which we could probably derive fairly easily from the diagonal....

    New Dell 30" LCD

Looks like an ATI X1800 will can handle that resolution with a dual-display setup (3007WFP x 2). $400 for the card but compared to the cost of buying two of these beasts I'm sure that wont be a problem. Drool.

    New Dell 30" LCD

Sure to be the new standard for bragging rights around here: http://www.engadget.com/2005/12/03/the-dell-3007wfp-dell-brings-the-30-inch-lcd-love/ Found a page about on the Dell web site as well (not for sale yet, they are saying Jan 5th)...

    Example of actual trading

By the timestamps it looks like you posted an hour after Electron did, in a thread that had been dormant for the 3 previous months. The timing did, at least to me, look like you were responding to Electron. Why else did you suddenly choose to post that message in this one particular thread...

How do you backup your system?

Actually I thought that the built-in compression on the image would result in the small image size (e.g. free space compress quite well). The filesystem includes pointers to the files, so you cant just relocate a random data block without also changing other things. In order to move/compress...

How do you backup your system?

Wow, that is nice and clean. I believed you by the way (before the screenshot), I'm just surprised that it would work that way when doing an image backup/restore.

How do you backup your system?

Acronis True Image is excellent backup software, can be used to make a backup of the full disk to a network shared drive while the OS is running. It also lets you mount the created image as a virtual drive, browse the directory structure and selectively restore files if you need to (instead of...
