LOL! I almost dropped my drink reading this. But thanks for the good laugh. It's people like you who make ET a special place. Cheers.

I know the road you are describing. I spent a couple of years traveling it myself and of my experience I can say: Learned a lot, didn't make any money.

    Index Futures Affected?

Grob is referring to the differential between the Dow cash and futures and calibrating that for the day's trading. I use the difference between the INDU and YM. When the differential is relatively large, i.e., "stretched", this telegraphs downward pressure for that moment. When the differential...

    Index Futures Affected?

Hi Grob, That's good stuff for timing entries. If you could answer a couple of questions: (1) How do you determine what the squeeze and stretch offset values are for the day? Is there a good way of calibrating oneself for the day as early as possible? (2) Is there any significance to...

Attn JayF: E-Signal's Erroneous ES Volume on Daily Chart

Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately, it seems there's not much to do about the issue except to accept the fact that the volume on the daily chart is unusable. Regardless, I appreciate your looking into it.

Attn JayF: E-Signal's Erroneous ES Volume on Daily Chart

bundlemaker, I recall discussing this issue with you in paltalk. So far as I know, there is no work-around for this problem. It's been a frustrating experience with E-Signal support and I've pretty much given up on the issue. But I saw how responsive JayF was on this forum so I decided to...

Attn JayF: E-Signal's Erroneous ES Volume on Daily Chart

Jay, Thanks for the response. I've seen the FAQ. It was almost a year ago when I first reported this problem. I've been told, in the following order: (1) that it was my computer/software that was malfunctioning; (2) that the CME didn't release real-time volume data; and (3) that the E-Signal...

Attn JayF: E-Signal's Erroneous ES Volume on Daily Chart

Just in case you missed seeing my post, I've updated it with today's data. Today's volume bar is showing yesterday's volume. The volume bar is static and doesn't update. This is very misleading to unsuspecting users who usually don't cross check the data feed's volume data with the GLOBEX report.

Attn JayF: E-Signal's Erroneous ES Volume on Daily Chart

Jay, Here's the situation: On your DAILY CHART DATA for the ES (and the NQ), the volume bars lag by a day. For example, today's volume bar (10-27-03) is actually the volume for last Friday (10-24-03); last Friday's volume bar is the volume for last Thursday, etc. Today's volume will show...

    Day trading strategys!

C'mon, Grob. I'm a trader. I trade real money. I don't want to see demo trades. I thought I might learn a few things by looking at a chart of your trades. Oh well, it's no big deal.

    Day trading strategys!

Not sure what you mean by Grob being "full of it". I know Grob is an awesome trader. But the trade log is obviously off a demo and the fills aren't real. I pulled out a chart to learn something from going over the trades only to find that I can't learn shit from it. Oh well, so I wasted some...

    Day trading strategys!

I guess I have to admit that it looks too hard for me. I traded the ES today too and I saw it trade above 1038 during the first 5 minutes and never again the entire day. Yet your mentee was able to sell the ES at 1038.25 no fewer than 5 times over a 30 minute stretch from 12:37 to 13:05. If I...

Would you give up a steady job to Trade?

I should also add that I'm talking strictly intraday trading. If you make 120 ES points trading ONE contract, I think you can trust yourself to make that judgment. You will find yourself in a new place once you TRIPLE YOUR ACCOUNT and REMOVE YOUR ORIGINAL CAPITAL from your account to once and...

Would you give up a steady job to Trade?

Until you've proven you can make money consistently, you trade ONE contract and only ONE contract. A good rule of thumb recommended by an awesome trader I know is 120 ES points (roughly 3x intraday margin). That is, if you can make 120 ES points trading ONE contract, you have earned the right...

Would you give up a steady job to Trade?

You are missing how it works. If you can make on average $400/day (let's say 1 ES point on 8 contracts), all you have to do to make $800/day is hit "1-6" on your keyboard instead of "8" when you go to make a trade. See how that works? In other words, there isn't a heck of a lot of difference...
