but when you say "futures" are you referring to the Nasdaq index, the S&P index, the SOX index, etc.? Or, are you referring to something else? I want to make sure I am keying on the best leading indicators.

Had problems in IB today. This morning orders hung up in blue - cancelled thereafter and they hung up in pink. Service froze with no data feed update. Half a dozen calls to IB produced nothing. I was long 500 in Yahoo at the time and the price was dropping. Lucky for me the price eventually...

Thanks zboy. As a test, I went short and used a stop. Result was I got burned somewhat when it turned into a market order. You are right. The best way is to to watch your position vigilently and use mental stops.
