here is a way to recycle an unused pt 3 as a pt1 for the shorter term period. edit: new channel in light blue

Sure it's valid until the FBO near the end where price has poked below the RTL. Here it is technically invalidated but as a practical matter to fan again after price immediately re-entered the channel with such a small penetration is a matter for discussion with the purists. This is "fanning"...

thanks for the detailed reply - I will do my best to adjust my point of view. BTW, you said "To me the annotation for Point Two should have occurred one bar prior - making this a chubby tape." Since you went to the effort to mention this here is my reason: I did it this way because the low...

thanks, but I thought that part was clear. The three scenarios are 1) RTL BO, 2) Formation BO, and 3) a Spike bar. I am hung up why you appear to have no expectation of the sequence of retracing from pt2 to pt3 after breaking two RTL's and the MA with the widest range of the last 51 bars...

weird, it worked for me when I tested it immediately before my reply to you. ET has been having lots of problems over the weekend and I guess its still ongoing. We'll deal with it later. Thanks

Spyder: If the error made here was to not prepare for other scenarios to play out than the one Ivob expected, then I fully understand your meaning. If, however, at the point in time shown in the attached chart, one should not be expecting a pt2(S) to arrive soon and then a retrace to pt3(S)...

Spyder, I would greatly appreciate a graphical reference to the chart points you are referring to in your above post from 05-15-08 05:20 PM EST. You make some very important points regarding the geometry of the market and one's expectations. I want to understand the application to the 14:30 area...

yes and you can add a short channel with pt1 at the FT3 at 13:05 that gets you across to the widened channel. But I don't see how what was written (literally) ties this to the 14:30 area as that was the time in question.

thanks for posting Romanus' chart link. I also have my chart as reference but the issue is knowing exactly which channels Spyder was referring to in the post I quoted because I am having a very hard time viewing that point in time and "seeing" what he referenced. Specifically "Once your...

Can someone please point out the location of the chart that was being referenced here? Spyder's reply was to Ivob's post linked below, but this section of chart is showing a later point in time. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1922687#post1922687 I am aware of Ivob's...

1)it broke out on minimally increasing volume, +R 1 bar only as it found temporary support at the MA. 2)it then formed a 3 bar lateral movement. 3)it popped lower out of this area on decreasing volume. 4)it went slightly lower and found support at the previous pt3L, then moved up to form an...

Go back and apply context to your samples and see how it filters the results. For instance separate bars in dominant price moves from non-dominant moves as a start. Then, in which part of the 1-2-3 sequence were they? I would think this refinement should shed some light. edit:in addition, of...

    Iterative Refinement

Price and volume follow repeating sequences as defined by the PV relationship. These sequences define trending price channels on multiple fractals. By correctly applying these principles a trader can detect continuation and change of trend to profit in any sufficiently liquid market and time frame.

sorry for responding so late. As you said regarding my post: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1914343#post1914343 "context is king", so please understand that the signs to anticipate change (referring to the long position) were there in the ES. Signs of actual change had...
