Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

Lots of hours! probably way too many! Tens of thousands rather than thousands I would guess. Though I do get distracted looking at other methodologies now and the (actually I enjoy it, its like a hobby) and longish vacations too nowadays. Channels and price action (with volume) at the lines...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

Nkhoi, Thanks - in some ways thats good to know. To me it's a pretty important piece of the puzzle. Every now and then I get to wondering if there is another way to do it or something key I might have missed (like its simply LH HH LH over 3 bars). You know what, if someone asked me how I...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

R/R I think you know where I am coming from. Personally I use volume and price action (has the bar 'spiked' for example) to try and get an early heads up that a FTT has occured. Cheers.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

At some time or other I have read every post by Jack (and the family of pseudonyms:)) at least twice probably more. I have read Spyders Journals once though to be honest skipped a lot of the stock stuff. There are tens of thousands of page possibly hundreds of thousands, I am loath to read them...

    Multicharts...???

MC has great potential that it is finally starting to realise, the support guys and gals are great (and in the past have had to be!) but I would hesitate to recommend it for automated trading. In a nutshell its not robust enough. There are still numerous irritating bugs in basic...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

My first post on on a Spydertrader thread. I have a question, forgive me if it has been asked before I must have missed it in the tens of thousands of posts! How many bars does it take to form a FTT? For example in an up channel does it require a high, a higher high (the FTT bar) and a...

    Will you agree?

Clearly this has nothing to do with Psychology. Not only that if not actually inflammatory it certainly appears designed to provoke. Move it to alt.letstalkgunghoBS. P.S. don't forget to hit the complain about this post button.

Wow -- the new MultiCharts beta is GREAT

I wonder if we have the same software. half my Studies have not worked since two versions ago (ones that draw lines). The last version fixed this but broke other stuff. There are loads of bugs that vary from simply irritating to actually putting money at risk. Acknowledged (and severe)...

    95% of traders lose

If Pareto's principle is to be believed it is likely to be closer to 80%. Still 83.7% of statistics are made up on the spot so not to worry. Trading is about cultivating a set of beliefs that are based (at least reasonably closely ) on 'reality'. Many traders don't even get that far. The...

    Trading with Emotional Intelligence

The Psych forum is about the only place I read with any regularity. I'm glad I do...thanks for the links. I wonder if anyone has signed up for Shulls self directed workshop?

Don’t DEFEAT yourself before the trade is over!

If you are relying on someones call in any way shape or form you have defeated yourself before you sit down at the computer imo. The fact that people are not taking calls means they have no confidence in the underlying method. This is probably because a suitable framework of beliefs has not...

Hey Scalpers, how do you enjoy trading against machines w/1 millisecond turnaround?

I feel great about it how do you feel about your trading? How do you feel about your thread? I hope you got all you desired from it. Personally I enter when volume dries up so it dosen't bother me. Or if I am feeling gung ho sell into buying climaxes so it dosent bother me. Cheers.

    Ticks and tape

IB aggregates ticks. This suits me. I have seen some data vendors way way behind in fast markets. IB does not appear to suffer from this.

    Turning CNBC off!

Nahh you can see when a number is coming out by looking at your charts! Volume will dry up and volatility will disapear! You can even get a good idea how 'big' the number will be. If they moved CNBC to comedy central I might catch it more I tend not to watch listen read much 'news'.

A visual aid. What scalping futures looks like.

Fascinating series. It apears that you tend to take actions around the various lines on the chart. (presumably pivots, previous days H/L previous S/R whatever). However sometimes you appear to enter against price (for a bounce or more) and other times with it as the line breaks? It would...

    Volume Bouncing Ball

Can anyone tell me if Hersheys bouncing ball indicator is freely avaialable. I was gonna code it in easy language but was feeling lazy. As an aside are the guassian levels plotted from that indicator. Again was thinking why re-invent the wheel. I did look but searching Jacks stuff is...

Superior intellect - is that enough?

Take the market test its the ultimate! On he whole I would say intellect is likely to be an impediment to market success especially if you are acustomed to being 'right' all the time. (I am and it is). If you have any sort of intellectual capability coupled with the most rudimentary...

Is Market Delta a MUST ???

I think you mis-understand me. I am not talking about the size of any particular print. As an aside I think the tutorials do no favours to anyone. Imo they are at best naive and at worse based on the wrong thinking I mentioned (green = trades @ ask = buying in a nutshell). All I am saying is...
