    trading on global property

hi folks, it is well known that property has a well defined trend that lasts for years. it would be a good idea to focus on different countries around the world and jump in with an investment if the trend is up 5-10% and the fundamentals are in agreement. not so keen myself to focus on...

    single asset investments

hi folks, I have a feeling that we are concentrating too much on today`s trades in stead of having an overall view of what asset classes are doing. Don`t we have an economic clock that tells us when to invest in the stock market and when to invest in property for instance. There might be...

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

hi B1S2 thank you for your frank reply. at the moment I am not a day trader, but trading short/medium term. I would like to invest part of my portfolio in longer time frames of at least 1 year as this is more tax effective. Here in Oz if I hold over 1 year, half of those profits will...

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

hi B1S2 You cant be earning that much on your cash/mutual funds for 80% of your investments. If you are doing so well with your trading account which average 50-80%, why would you ever want to be in cash or mutual funds for 80% of your total investments? It sure wont be much more time...

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

Could you explain B1S2? most people average in when the price goes up. so you buy more when the price goes down and then and only then a new trend starts? why did you buy it in the first place if no trend was apparent at the time you bought it? just trying to understand thanks

Acer 24" Any good for trading ES?

hi folks, at the moment I have a 17" monitor with 800x600 resolution. yes I`m getting old, but I need nothing fancy. the only thing I hate is the horizontal scroller at the bottom of the screen. I know nothing about computers; I just click on the buttons.:) but if I buy a 19"...

    any EOD index futures traders

doesn`t matter aussie if trades are not taken very often. if the position trader should have patience, surely the journal follower can do the same, otherwise they`re better off to follow a day-trader`s journal. can we expect your first post in that regard - would be interesting.

    any EOD index futures traders

thank you pil and nihaba for your posts. I should have put my question across a lot better: traders who trade for the intermediate and longer term and look at the weekly and daily charts. I dont think there are any journals for these types of trades:cool:

    Market-on-Open order

sorry Eric, I cant see how a MOO/OPG is better than just a MOO order. I would think that TIF OPG is not important at all, `cos you will get filled at the opening of the day. Could you explain please?

    Market-on-Open order

    any EOD index futures traders

hello guys, seems like everybody is day-trading the index futures and sitting behind their screen all day. well for me I get cross-eyed and my head get sore....... the futures journals seem to be about day-trading as well. is anybody trading the index futures using EOD data with trades...

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

I agree with you there devil, ofcourse it will happen again. Look at the panic on February 27th and that was not even a crash. what % is the lock limit on ES? thanks people:cool:

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

thanks chuck for your contribution. I`m an EOD penny trader so a and b are not feasible; my trades last from 1 day to several months and often fully invested. c. is not very attractive either. I have more than 50% return on my capital and to leave a good amount of cash in the bank...

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

I think its just plain bragging. Nobody knows what will happen a few days/weeks before a crash. You might be long for all you know and lose your shirt:cool: we`ll just see if you`re among the survivors!

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

maybe - maybe not at first people dont realise its a crash, but just a down turn and I reckon I`ll be filled before the shit really hits the fan especially if "IT" happens at night and the US is asleep. but if you have a better idea chuck?

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

thanks MTE yes it may run (not gap, I`m in the market 24/7) through my stop sell order, but I would get filled anyway. maybe a bit lower because of the fast market. yes, maybe the stop is a bit tight. on the other hand in a doomsday scenario, traders wont look right nor left.....everybody...

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

hi Time, I dont agree that protection is not possible......... if my stop sell order for 7 ES futures is in the market virtuelly 24/7 there wont be any gapping for me. When the news breaks before market opens, I would have short sold those futures and I will have the perfect protection for...

    Does anyone plan for Doomsday?

but I reckon my plan for doomsday is so brilliant, because I never own any protection that will lose money outright and/or opportunity cost until doomsday comes around. ofcourse I would have a tight stop loss in place for a couple of points at the time of entering my stop sell order for when...
