Ok, so looks like it's a pip above that last 1-min swing high. I see that. The reason I didn't understand is because the line went all the way to the left edge of the chart, so I thought it must have been something farther to the left that caused you to put the stop there.

How did you come up with the mini resistance line? It looks kind of random to me. It seems you place your stops quite close. Meaning the typical place for a stop would be above the prior high, but you seem to always have it tighter than that. Did you come upon this through testing of MAE's...

I didn't trade this one but thought I'd put it up. YM gave a 2B pattern this morning. Have to admit I was a little surprised by the sharp follow through on it.

Some good posts lately Cornix, thanks. In particular the ones that showed some losses or tricky price action sequences. IMO there's a lot more to be learned from those than from the textbook winning trades, so it's nice to see a few of those mixed in.

    Simplicity in TA

Some questions. How do you know that it's the rising wedge that the market is "adhering to" and that a short bias is appropriate? Why not the broken trendline from the 2007 high or the uptrend from the October low and a bullish bias? Why not look at this pullback as a buying opportunity...

    Blowing Up

Well at least he had the courage to swallow his pride and admit his failings, and move on with his life. He could just as easily be on here posing as a profitable trader, posting up hindsight charts, giving speeches about discipline, creating aliases to vouch for himself, etc. LOL. This is...

    Simplicity in TA

From a simple TA perspective the line in the sand is around 1320-25, that would be a backtest of the broken downtrend from the 2007 high. Is that right? FWIW I'd guess that line would hold if tested and the bull market will continue for another couple of months or so... but that's only a guess.

    NoDoji's Trading Plan Development

Yeah that's par for the course I think. In reading older posts here the same patterns show up. One of 40yotrader's final posts may shed some light on why NoDoji left. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1251249#post1251249 It seems the good traders who stick around do not...

Thanks guys. Yeah I use finviz but will check out IBD, I haven't looked at them in a while.

    The ACD Method

Thanks. I have another question for you or anyone else who cares to chime in. Can anyone recommend ways to identify the best leading stocks to keep tabs on? Just wondering if there's something I'm not thinking of, or any good sites I could utilize. Or if it's better to stick with sector...

    The ACD Method

Do any of you give any weight to opening range volume? It's something I've been tracking for a while now, after being inspired by some old posts on Steenbarger's blog. The idea being that below avg OR volume indicates large participants are not active in the markets and therefore significant...

    Technical Trading Setups Journal

The blue line is the downtrend from the May 2011 high. The pink one is the downtrend from the Oct 2007 high. This market is so strong that it hasn't even been able to pull back enough to officially backtest either line, it just keeps running higher. The last big bull move ran from...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Yeah, and that's what I was trying to get at earlier. Those who claim that you cannot trade 4 lots in a 30k account and expect to make a middle class living, but you CAN trade 4 lots in a 100k account and make a living..... they are obviously assuming you're going to have significant drawdowns...

    Day Trading Crude without indicators.

Regular price is $3.50 each way. I've never heard of $1.25 - the lowest they told me was $2.50 but that's only with serious monthly volume traded. What did you do to get it down that low?

I'm actually not complaining... I'm just used to hearing other traders say ES stinks so was kind of assuming Cornix would say the same thing. I know most traders are looking for the most action and volatility. But as a developing trader I actually like the fact that ES is relatively slow and...

Cornix, are you still trading ES? I notice you were trading it late last year on your site but stopped talking about it in January. It was very interesting to see your approach to ES, because mine is totally different. I went back through my own personal journal to the days you had...

I keep seeing this thread getting bumped up each day, and can't resist opening it to see if you've broken out the buying in uptrends strategy. But no such luck. :p
