    Simplicity in TA

Thanks for the updates. This was the channels chart I had going, looks like we've broken through both of them. I guess I should start keeping track of previous highs/lows as well. That's a pretty scary trajectory you have drawn on the left chart in the dow map pic.

successful traders: did you have a mentor?

For anyone on here who is consistently profitable trading... Did you have a mentor, or did you figure it out all on your own? If you did have a mentor, how did you find them? Were they in-person or online? What kind of instruction did they give you? How much one-on-one feedback...

Thanks for the pic Josh. I did that one on replay, so that's why I spaced on the ISM report! I should have at least moved my stop to breakeven when price hit the previously confirmed R becomes S level, but I just didn't see it for whatever reason. Currently short again on the 1 hr chart...

    A simple price action approach

Here's one that gave me a hard time... 1-hr EUR/USD Was looking to go long in the circled area. Got triggered in long but there was no follow thru and the next bar closed down leaving an upper shadow. Thought about exiting then and there but decided to keep holding. My stop was...

    A simple price action approach

I had looked at the 1-hr but haven't been paying much attention to it. Trying to get these patterns down in real-time can be enough to get my head spinning as it is, without getting into multiple timeframes! I had the lower TL a little different than yours though. Mine was on 6E and I...

    A simple price action approach

I was thinking to myself "first line in the sand is the 20" and was concerned when price pulled back off it and closed with the upper wick. But I wasn't sure when to officially call it a failure so stuck with my original stop. Just curious, would you SAR there?

Got stopped at breakeven on that last short. the rest of the session went as follows... Next trade short on the 5:30 bar which made target. +33 short on the 6:20 bar, got wicked 2 bars later. -15 short on the 6:40 bar made target. +29 long on the 8:35 bar, false breakout. -9...

3 trades so far. Long on the 3:45 bar that took out the doji high. Stopped out. -9 Short on the 4:00 bar that retested the channel line (entry off the 1-min chart). Stopped out on the green 4:20 bar that poked above the 20ema. -7 Currently back in short again at 1.4480 on the 4:25 bar. :p

Yeah, I know about monkey bars.... it's just a volume profile, something I've never gotten the hang of but thanks anyway. The problem with TOS is they don't have a way to segregate bid/ask data when it comes to order fills. They've said they're working on it but that it won't be happening in...

    A simple price action approach

It might, but I'm using TOS so don't have access to it. TOS is nice for a learning trader because it's free, but it does have its limitations. Once I get my PA skills refined I may give Ninja a spin and see if the delta helps me any.

    A simple price action approach

I was a little relieved that I got the "right" answer. I had been thinking either I'm blind and have a lot more to learn than I thought, or she's playing a trick because there is no trade. :p

    A simple price action approach

Here's what I had in the euro for today. First short stopped out immediately. Second and third had small gains taken on the way back up. Fourth was stopped immediately. The first long was when I thought the trend might be reversing (higher lows on blue TL) and the second long was a good one.

    A simple price action approach

I'll take a stab... I'd have considered a long on the 6:20 bar, after the pullback off a new high. Failed upside breakout on the 6:45 bar. I see high volume there but don't know if it was buying or selling. I'd be neutral as long as price is in this 94.70-95.10 range. I wouldn't take...

    A simple price action approach

Had one trade (long) on the euro as noted. I didn't hold until the target was made - I exited when it looked like price was reversing at the previous double top. I actually almost skipped the trade because of that double top. I thought about going long just before 8:00. When price broke...

    A simple price action approach

Here's what I had for today's 6e session. 1.. Long around 3:30. I was initially looking for a short, but was thinking that price had been in this channel for quite a while so don't be surprised if it stops me out. But the entry never triggered and I decided if it broke out above the last...

    A simple price action approach

Some people would short there. From what cornix has shown, that looks like a location where he might try a short with a tight stop. For me, I've been waiting for confirmation before entering. A take-out of the previous bars hi/lo. So there was no entry there. It's a trade-off. If you're...

    A simple price action approach

I see you're using aggressive entries, cornix. I still have a lot of testing to do before I decide whether I want to wait for "confirmation" or not. But for now I'm focusing on spotting entry/exit locations and nothing more, so that will have to wait. By the way I just had the same trade as...

    A simple price action approach

Here's what I had drawn for Jun 27 6e 5-minute. I started watching around 3:00 am. First the purple channel, then after the breakout I drew the steep red up channel. Just before 6:00 price retested the purple upper limit and moved higher. I didn't know what to do. Do I buy because it's a...

    A simple price action approach

I find few of the potential channel trades I come up with in 6e 5-min charts actually make it to the target. So I've been more aggressive about exits if a winner looks like it could be reversing. From my experiences thusfar it seems that entering with a hard stop and holding until stopped out...

Agree totally when it comes to NoD and "the hog"... I too went through page after page after page of their posts, copying and pasting what I found useful into a file. I could probably add Xpurt to the list they are on - he has some great contributions lately. I guess I've done a good job...
