Today I let my expectations of some big swings after FOMC announcements sway what I was really seeing. I kept entering chop waiting for the breakout. Looks like tomorrows news kept a lid on things today.

NoDojie I pretty much use the idea of your #2 setup exclusively. The #1 setup works often. You can see it all day long on the charts, but I feel waiting for a pullback offers a higher percentage of profitable trades. I can't forget something a mentor impressed on me several years ago...

NoDoji, Why keep looking for new setups? Why not focus on the few you have that work well for you, and work on approaches to increasing size?

The sto really does not tell you anything that the price action does not. Simple trendline break and pullback. Oscillators cross all the time, and most mean nothing. FWIW.

Just a comment on the "fractal" nature of markets. Humans find comfort in familiarity, order and predictability which is why so much of the trading and approaches we see here on ET are garbage. Traders who consistently lose try to find that way to pull meaning out of presumptive chaos...
