My TWS controlled by a ghost?

For some reason when I open one of my accounts on TWS, the windows move ever so slightly on their own, and sometimes, minimized windows get re-maximized without my clicking on them and other times it's the scroll menus that move on their own. Might've had this problem for about 2-3 weeks or so...

    IB and Reuters Bridge

I might be reviving an old thread but just to let you guys know at IB, it's quite funny (and sad at the same time) that as I used this feature hoping to get some news on the YM contract, all I got were some trivia about the YM magazine :D .

    My ways to future bankruptcy

I'm a bit perplexed by the risk/reward ratio  Happy trading, but if you don't have the experience already, going paper on IB for a month or two wouldn't hurt. You'll save a lot of money you might otherwise lose that way. Good luck,

    identifying tops intraday

I find that greater the time span - greater the reliability, but candle patterns along with other indicators on a 5 min chart can be quite useful. Regards,

Poll: What are your financial certifications?

Taking CFA level III exam this June. If your aspiration is to become a great trader, the designation is absolutely useless. In fact, some of the things I do in trading directly contradict their theory about the financial markets (i.e. technical analysis). Most of the people I study with...

Why I Take Small Profits to Catch Bigger Profits

I agree with NoiseTrader totally. Taking partial profits is sometimes necessary in order to let one of those monster profits run sometimes. And you can definitely have several consecutive positions running on one security (especially with futures) each with its own signals/entry/exit.

    Using the $TICK for confirmation

It's nice to glance at the $TICK once in a while to see how the market's faring (I've got a short term MA running on it with an alert that tells me when it moves above/below zero) but aside from that I don't find it that useful (at least for my system).

Official DD thread - Big Dow

A good idea gone awry I guess. I was also shocked by the lack of volume it has generated so far (I glance at it time to time intraday while trading YM mostly).

    Some IB A/C Set-Up Questions

Hi, I'm thinking of switching to IB and have some questions regarding setting up an account: 1) Can US dollar denominated funds in a Canadian brokerage account be transferred through ATON (Canadian version of ACATS)? (on your website it says it is only available for Canadian stock/cash. Does...

    Does the CFA Open Doors?

I'm writing the CFA level III exam in June, and I am quite disappointed with the quality of the materials I've read so far for this level. I've learned more about alternative investments/strategies reading other books than following the CFA curriculum. The program as a whole will prepare you...

    trading from jail

Criminals are more likely to gamble without much consideration for risk (an extreme example: bank robbers), often paying attention exclusively on the booty. Professors (those who have at least an inkling of regression analysis) would be more risk averse, and so I would think that while you'll...
