how to start futures trading (emini)

haha! not at all. But I have to think if you're looking for liquidity spot fx makes more sense in this space. By all means, I welcome any and all opinions but I'd take Oanda or something over M6E having compared it to its big brother. Just my personal opinion mind you. Actually, I just...

how to start futures trading (emini)

xelite, you seem like a really smart guy and I enjoy your posts (especially regarding backtesting) but this one I have to respectfully disagree with. I found micros like M6E are ok for longer time frames but if you want to play futures, lets be honest you want ES, NQ, ZB... etc. The books...

Hell, pick one of the fcm's on the sponsor list. AMP ES is $400 intraday, $4510 initial.

how to start futures trading (emini)

I have to agree. I have an acct for equities and some conservative options strats, decided a few years back that I would take some and try out futures because I was sure leverage would work in my favor... not so much. With just under 10k, I can fully admit I was scared money. Closed my...

    Android or iPhone?

+1 for despising itunes... pure garbage. Iphones are overpriced for status purposes too. Also, android developer tools are available to anyone for free.

    Sh*ty 401k

Sorry I wrote self directed by mistake and didn't erase it. I'm curious because my wife has an employee sponsored plan with a limited number of funds offered but she did not choose her allocations (she didn't even know she was contributing). As a default, they just stuck her funds in a daily...

    Sh*ty 401k

Maybe not optimal, but are there no money market or daily interest (DIA) account options? I'm in Canada so I'm not sure of the ins and outs of 401k's but I believe all registered self directed sponsored plans have these options available or as defaults if people dont specify fund allocations...

Fair enough! Best of luck to you going forward.

I am getting my butt handed to me on a daily basis!

I have to ask - based on the above statement, why did you gravitate away from what was apparently working? Your fundamental knowledge in ags seems to be a much more exploitable edge than what you are currently doing. I'm not here to belittle Jack or his methods but are you positive trying to...

I am getting my butt handed to me on a daily basis!

OP - just curious if you have continued with ags/grains in your 20 yrs of trading? Seems like it would have been a good fit since you would have knowledge regarding crop info, how to interpret basis, etc.

    Anyone Using ORB successfully?

Opening Range Breakout. I'd be curious to see if anyone has an automated version of the ACD method. There is a really good thread here but I haven't checked it in awhile, may find something there in regards to coding it.

Congrats surf, I'm sure it must feel good to hit a winner after the CL trade. Any plans to trail a stop on these to lock in some profits?

    Advice on Covered Calls

haha, yeah true. Off on a bit of a tangent but no complaints here, just makes me wish I had some more money available in a non-registered (I'm in Canada, not sure about US or Euro regs) so I could have a little more fun with these spreads. Hopefully some more info still to come...

    Advice on Covered Calls

No for sure, obviously not for the retail guy. I figure its good stuff to wrap my head around though just for an understanding to tie things together. Or if I ever get the sick desire to branch out into more complex spreads in the future...

    Advice on Covered Calls

Ok, if I understand synthetics, boxes would be relative value plays - IE long box, the spreads would need to be overvalued relative to the underlying? Long fly I've played with on paper but I've haven't figured out how to properly decide when to construct the spreads with calls vs puts. Still...

    Advice on Covered Calls

Awesome, thanks guys Makes much more sense now, the Forbes article on short puts = covered calls helped clear things up. Now I just need a valuation method... was in need of a new project anyway!
