Let us say an option is quoted $2.50 bid/ $2.55 offered, then the spread widens to $2.45/$2.55 and I manage to place a limit buy order @ $2.50. Later, a MM raises his bid to $2.50. Another word, we both bid $2.50, but I was there first. Who gets the first fill at this price...
I agree that annualized ROI may not be relevant to daytrading. However, in order to evaluate a system`s risk-adjusted return - which is what I am trying to do - one needs to know its average daily ROI.

Do any of you gentlemen trading "Dons' openings" keep track of the average daily ROI on successful fills? If yes, would you mind revealing the magic number along with the number of days used in the calculation.

We do not. By definition, most people are wrong at the market`s turning points. When everybody tries to get on the same side of a bear market, the result is a huge sell off. We are not there yet. I would not be surprised to see the Dow re-test its Sepetember, 2001 lows before bouncing back.
I think today's mini-capitulation has relieved some downward pressure on the market. This, and a relatively high number of in-the-money puts out there, should push the market higher next week. Beyond that, it is a pre-announcement season. :cool:
I have made quite a bit of money by holding positions overnight, unhedged and without any stops. Hey, I was 100% short going into this morning. As long as no leverage is employed, the risks are manageable (short -10%, long -25%).
