A 30%+ selloff DOES indicate a top, at least in the short or intermediate term. CROX is going into SHOWME mode, just like HANS did last year, where it will have to prove to momentum investors/traders that it deserves their time and $$$

How is this market manipulation? This is the way momentum stocks react once they lose their mojo. CROX had beaten estimates by a mile and then raised guidance for the last three quarters. When they failed to do that today, all the momentum guys got out. Just the way the stock market works...

The last 3 quarters MA has beat by .34, .15, and .41 respectively. Today's beat was only .11. Since the stock has more than doubled the last year, people wanted to see a better BTE (better than expected) to justify continuing the run. Didn't get it so they are selling it off (today at least).

If you are HOLDING a position, certainly the risk is greater. But if you are trading in and out of positions, these wild moves sparked by the Vix are pure money.

I think WD40 should have titled his post..No Daytrader Should Lose Money This Week. For daytraders, this is without a doubt the best of trading times---rivaling those of the markets heyday when I started in 2000. With the Vix so high, this market is a pure ATM machine, minting money for anyone...

NMS 612 was supposed to have eliminated sub-penny orders several years ago. Yet I am constantly having people step in front of me with their .001s. Today, for example I am the only level 2 quote at 54.04 on KLAC with 100 lousy shares. Then someone joins me on ISLAND/NASDAQ with 1000 shares...

Better yet, just trade the USO. This ETF reflecting the real-time trading price of oil had lousy volume and huge spreads until last month. Since then however, volume has more than tripled and the spreads have made entry and exits relatively painless.
