Advice About Sept 2nd GLOBEX Oct. Cattle Trade Not Busted

What was the price executed at and what time?

the BEST stock options to daytrade or 1-2 day "swing" trade are...

When trading intraday options, the best spreads IMO are in most of the financial stocks like C, XLF, JPM, WM, and then ETFs including SPY, IWM, QQQQ. Excellent liquidity as well, unless you're doing 1000 contracts per order.

early open sunday for nymex energy

Interesting action trading this. As they say, if you're trading this at least, get your scalping knife ready. For the record, currently long at 7.736, 2 contracts only. Not much liquidity out there, eh? Mkt is pretty wide.

A large US bank will collapse within few months

This is the reason you have protective puts in WB, C, WFC, JPM, USB, and BAC (yes I own puts in all). Could be anyone of those, especially C and BAC with their large credit card portfolios.

Got System Cocked, Where Do I Shoot?

Soon, the rest of the board's gonna come around and say, if it is so successful, why not do it yourself? You say you don't want to quit your job, why not take a leave of absence? Seems to me you're just trying to find a willing trader with the cash to buy your "system".

Boone Pickens' HF down 35% in July

As of July 31, 2008, the BP Capital Energy Equity Fund LP is down -21.63% YTD but was up 48.7% in 2004, 88.8% in 2005, 19.6% in 2006, and 23.8% in 2007. $10,000 invested in beginning of 2004 would be about $32,000~ today.

One Dollar Homes - Is this a Joke or is There a Catch?

Can I put a 100% subprime mortgage on this? Anyway: these "$1 homes" not only require the fix-up ($50k+ at least) but anything on the title (current mortgage, liens, property taxes, unpaid utitlies). That $1 Detroit home will end up costing more than $100k.

    FDIC Bank Inc.

Guess that means some big ones are going down this weekend (Wamu, Fifth Third, Nat City??)

    Comission

If it is a hedge fund-type agreement of management, normally 2% is taken from principal and 20% from the profits. Structure it however you want, but only 1-2% of the profit is a horrible deal for the trader.

    Cme Seat Lease

No, the seat leases are going for about $1500 a month (full CME or IOM?) and there is a one-time $2000 application charge to the Merc.

Congress Pursues $80 Oil With Trading Limits, Disclosure Rules : from Bloomberg

I'm not exactly sure; but I am pretty sure the big GSCI (Goldman Sachs Commodity Index) and the funds that base themselves on it are not leveraged, so they have the cash/investment on hand for the full value of the contracts. Edit: From the Goldman Sachs website: The S&P GSCI™ is a...

Congress Pursues $80 Oil With Trading Limits, Disclosure Rules : from Bloomberg

So let me get this straight...Congress wants to limit American traders/speculators, but they don't say who the prices would be set by then. Prices will still be set by our fellow Middle Easterns. Why should we try to micro-manage the price we pay for a luxury that we don't have? I don't go to...

    Corn Crash!

I got out of my September corn short WAY to early. I had 1 contract short from 7.41 and long 4 of the August 750 puts at 0.39. I bought the futures back at 6.70 (ahh!) and sold the puts at 0.825. Man, this move from that level to $5.50 on Sept. is just way too tempting to get in front of and...

Why do some stocks get halted after earnings while others don't?

Hmmm...that is an interesting question I've always wondered as well. Don't know the answer, but maybe could be a NYSE/Nasdaq thing depending where its listed?

IB will eliminate intraday margin reductions. Commencing at 12:00 EST today

I stand corrected oso. It really doesn't make sense that they would impose this for intraday, mainly to protect themselves. However, a range like this on the ES (from 1200 to 1235) can wipe some accounts out so they probably don't want to deal with irate customers and whatnot.

    Ib

No. There is no borrowing for futures transactions, as you only need the margin requirement (that is, required from the exchange) to be able to enter into that position. You may be charged a rollover or daily position fee ($0.10 I think?) when you hold overnight like the above says.

IB will eliminate intraday margin reductions. Commencing at 12:00 EST today

This is a safety measure to protect them and customers (I'm one of them). They don't want a huge move (remember January?) during an overnight session or gapping down to blow out a lot of accounts. Be aware that this is most likely temporary, as when there is extreme volatility, they and a lot of...
