Anybody have any ideas why futures are up so much?

They're probably delayed on CME.com. Currently down 0.50 on my screen.

    Why not use TD Ameritrade?

The reason I don't trade with them is, well 1, I don't day-trade equities that much, 2, they don't have the greatest IT or customer service department (but not as bad as IB), and 3, not priced great for options as that is what I do a lot of. Also, many experience data problems on high-volume...

    Stock Credit Spread Trades

Thought I'd start a journal for something I've been doing a long time, short butterflies, long iron condors, short strangles/straddles, that provide monthly income for me. I do them for every expiry month in my list of stocks, and will update you all here every time I put on/take off trades...

    Credit Spreads - Reasonable Returns?

I put on a lot of credit spreads (short butterflys/iron condors) that provide about 25% total yearly. I spread them between 20-30 ETFs/stocks in my swing trading account and it provides a nice income for me. Each credit spread works 75-85% of the time.

    Butterfly on CCU April

This might work better. Short 32.50/32.50 Straddle for $7.90 credit. Works great because you're shorting the high volatility.

    Butterfly on CCU April

Graph at expiration Buy-out offer is $39.20, so you'd be out $160 if its approved by April expiration. Nice spread if you don't think its coming through soon.

It looks as if he started with $3,096,450.00 on 1/1/02, and current value is $3,716,949.00, representing an in-aggregate 20.04% return, beating the S&P by 5% and missing the Dow by 3%.

I have no idea. The site doesn't say. But, since inception, or 1/1/2002, it has been 20.04% beating the S&P of 15.14%. I am on the free trial. I think if you have a TheStreet.com username you can get the trial without a credit card.

    Taking Profits Too Early

I always find myself taking profits too early. For example, I bought 100 shares of SPY at 131.05 last week, sold it that day at 131.30, event though I had the intent of holding throughout the week. Sometimes I even find myself doing this with short-term trades too, even though I don't...

Short Butterflies seem so interesting with all this volatility...

Am I missing something with the short butterfly? I realize if the stock stays the same at expiration, I am out a lot of cash. But, with all the volatility and movement of prices in every direction, I'm guessing neutral short credit butterflies seem like a good idea. I'm thinking of doing a...

Guess the Visa BID-ASK at 9:29 am IPO

This is being pumped so much just as Blackstone was. Maybe the outcome won't be the same but look at BX now from where it priced last summer (with all the CNBC hype).

Does Visa Hit The Market for Trading Tomorrow?

Has anyone noticed the unusual amount of shares they have authorized to issue? Why the heck would a company need to be able to offer 2 trillion shares of Class A Stock (yes you read that right), if the need arises? Is this just a random number the underwriters pull out of a hat? I don't...

Sad that it takes rate cuts to rally the market...

I was flat going into today. Added some short positions at the close (SPY, SDS, and hedged futures ES and YM). I don't think this rally will end, as they can't cut rates forever. If I'm wrong, I'll be wrong, but I don't think this'll work for long.
