    Butterfly on CCU April

Here's another chance. Limited risk, limited profit. Buy-out offer is still $39.20, although the banks don't want it to happen still. The IV on these options is high enough to make this trade worthwhile. It goes out towards July though, which to me is the only problem. Long 15 Put Short...

Will a gas strike work? May 2nd

It certainly wouldn't cause bankruptcy. They'd just make up the profits the next day and lose a little due to employment and storage costs. Remember, to make that happen, no trucks, 10 mpg SUVs, or even sedans would be on the road to not buy gas. I'm sitting on a 3/4 tank right now in my...

Will a gas strike work? May 2nd

There are too many dependent on gas for transportation daily. These strikes never work. Most people that participate in these strikes still drive, just don't buy gas on that day. They'll have to buy gas the next day, so there is no point in delaying it.

The Importance of the 1400 level on the SPX

Can't be bullish at this point. We're still at a major resistance point. Bulls can't close this above 1400.

The Importance of the 1400 level on the SPX

Exactly why I don't leave hard & tight stops on while I have overnight positions. Look at the range already tonight: 1400 down to 1394.25. Moving around just to take the stops out.

SPX Iron Condor SPX at 1397.84 Long 990 Put Short 1010 Put Short 1440 Call Long 1460 Call 10 contracts each, max loss $16,406.00. Not expecting the equities to do that well in the coming weeks, so that is why the call spread is so close to the current price with room for a little...

The Importance of the 1400 level on the SPX

I posted this chart in another thread. If bulls really want to make a case of how great the economy is (haha), they would push this past 1400 and retest old highs. We're forming an uptrend wedge, which as you know indicates we may get a lower trend now. Volume was also significantly higher, as...

April 28 - May 2 : The Week of Great Volatility

The ES front month still hasn't broken out. It is forming a type of a rising wedge to me. Could also be looking at MA cross if we stay in a tight range. The unordinarily high volume on Friday could signal the top as well here as notated on the chart.

shortest distance per 1 contract to $200 profit per day is...

Well, as long as you have the appetite for risk in your account (a.k.a. more than the initial margin requirement), I would say 1 contract of CL. Very large moves of $0.20 ($200) happen often in this contract. You can do it in ES, but you have the be patient. My guess is you're better off...

April 28 - May 2 : The Week of Great Volatility

Absolutely agree with you. The high on Friday was 1399.11, so I couldn't be more bearish now unless we pass through, close at, and stay above 1400.

April 28 - May 2 : The Week of Great Volatility

Yes, especially with the low-vol on them. Picked up SPY 142 Puts for only $0.50 in time premium.

April 28 - May 2 : The Week of Great Volatility

Haha, wouldn't doubt it. That is why I don't have anything positioned before the news, expect a small position in SPY puts (I think VIX is going back in the mid-20s).

April 28 - May 2 : The Week of Great Volatility

We'll see some great volatility throughout this coming week. Profits can be easily had, with 20-30 point ranges in the ES probable starting mid-week on Wednesday. Take a look at this: Tuesday: Consumer Confidence (with UMich Consumer Sentiment on Friday this shouldn't be good) Wednesday...

    Apple Earnings play

Glad to pass it on. It is called OptionsOracle and is a freeware program from SamoaSky. Although it doesn't have the backtesting tools that OptionVue has (I wouldn't use it anyway), it is equal to the performance with saving the $1,000+ price tag of OptionVue. http://samoasky.com/...

    Apple Earnings play

Well, in essence, it seems okay, but that is a pretty high margin requirement ($40,000) to just make that small amount of money, although the range is pretty wide enough (although you never know).

Is it just me or is Sunday Overnight Grain Trading EASY?

See the thing is, I'm not that great on other days during the week. I'm not able to trade during the regular session because of my full-time job, so I tried out trading from 6pm-7:30pm daily (most volume) and Sunday has been all winners and a few break-evens.
