Did the PPT intervene in the markets today?

Simple "Paulson Pump" today, but since he is apart of the Working Group on Financial Markets (a.k.a to us as PPT), yes the PPT did intervene.

I don't use it solely for basing a trade that may work. Sure, sometimes I use it for quick scalps when a big local is driving it up or Merrill/GS is bidding or offering and I can catch a 1/2 point in 10-20 seconds. At times, I'll check the pit action when I see a key reversal point coming...

    Corn Crash!

The report comes out tomorrow morning at 7:30am CST, when the market is not open so I'd expect a huge move at the open. Here are two sites that carry info and recommendations...

Who wants to wager that Cramer just predicted the bottom?

I'd have to say he has called a short-term bottom and we will rally from here (5-7% or so). Didn't he call this a bear market on the 22nd of January disaster when the Dow futures were down 500 points before the open and we closed like only down 150 or something. We proceeded to rally about 1000...

This is a good service as all the big institutions (Goldman, Merrill, Morgan) do large size through the pit. I subscribed this year and continue to have the service ($125/month for the S&P 500) and a good 2.5 ES points or 1/2 SP point will pay for it, so why not?

Anyone for Dinner in Downtown Chicago to talk Markets/Trading/Economy?

That sounds good as well, but dinner is just as fine as well. We'll see who else shows up here if they're interested. -Chris

Anyone for Dinner in Downtown Chicago to talk Markets/Trading/Economy?

Tonight or this week. I am downtown mostly this week (live in the suburbs usually), and am free for dinner if anyone has any interest in getting together and talking about the markets, economy, etc. PM me or reply here if you're interested! -Chris

GM's liabilities exceed assets by $42 billion, losing money. Why isn't it bankrupt?

GM is much worse off than Ford. I've bought Ford under $6.00 every time recently and sold it above $7.00. Saying that, I did buy some shares into my new position today, with anticipation to hold to above $7. At least they have positive equity as opposed to GM's -$41b equity.

Too bad ABK and MBI will probably be bailed out by the Fed if there's even a chance they go bankrupt.

Trader job at an options market making firm

Most firms post the bid/ask automatically, and have the computers adjust it automatically to make up for demand, stock price, etc. When I was down visiting the CBOE floor, the market makers were busy executing the complex orders as outright puts/calls at the market were purchased/sold...

What are realistic goals for an 18-year old swing/position trader?

There's your problem. You're figuring in exponential growth, not just getting 2% on $1500 weekly. It's easy to take an account from $1500 to $3000, sometimes even $3000 to $6000, but once you get that high you'll find yourself with psychology problems because of increased trading size and larger...

Rick Santelli--Assertion--All CL Have To Take Physical Delivery?

Hopefully Goldman does. I would just sit back and laugh if they found themselves long oil when it collapses. Of course, the Federal Reserve would orchestrate a taxpayer-paid bail-out with trillions of pesos to cover the losses.

email opec and ask for lower oil prices

I told them to cut production and raise prices -- to make us Americans realize how bad off we are and how the necessary $6/gallon wake-up call will make us take action.

When Will Crude Hit $40/barrel again?

Once we're completely on alternative energy (wind, solar, nuclear), oil will be so cheap the Middle East will be begging us to buy it. Obviously very far in the future.

Black Tuesday - Price Collapse Imminent

I very much hope we do have another down day (possibly more than 3%) on Tuesday. I've been short the ES since 1424.50, rode it up to 1440 intra-day once, and am glad I kept it. Bernanke does not have any room to be cutting rates, and crude oil would go continue to go through the roof if...
