    Anybody heard of Generic Trade?

Thanks for input. I downloaded their platform demo, and it is very basic, which isn't all bad. Sometimes, too many bells and whistles can distract you from what you should be doing - simply making money. So now, being new to futures, I'm thinking the indexes, in particular, the s&p...

    Anybody heard of Generic Trade?

I just rceived an email from Generic and their site is operational; at least what there is of it, which is why I'm a bit skeptical. They are offering a flat commission per contract of $0.59,

    Big Trade

Thanks for the replys. I notice this a lot when looking at afterhours trades and also occasionally in first few minutes of the market open and close. Sometimes (doesn't matter the time) a small trade of say 100 or so shares will be as much as 50% abive or below the market. Who would take the...

    Worldco, Santa Monica..Bait and Switch

<quote>Worldco in Santa Monica called me a couple times after I moved to Chicago. I still haven't seen a legit prop firm in Los Angeles. The second biggest city in this country doesn't have a legit prop???? Maybe I should open one in the future!!</quote> Maybe you should.

    Optionetics

As stated numerous time before in these threads: if someone stumbles on a "system" that actually works you won't hear about it on the seminar circuit. Also, even if taught a good trading strategy or method you still have to trade against the "pros". Or look at it like Tiger Woods teaching you...

What is "Market Value" of an Option?

Yes, I'm sure. They bought the puts for me at $500 + commission. At least if I were assigned I would have the 100 shares per contract. That's why I don't understand how the puts could ever have a "market value" of $5.

    PHLX orders cancel immediately?

Are they actually allowed to hold cancels for 2 min? I can't recall ever having a fill after a cancel was transmitted. Although I frequently watch my bids at the ask and vis versa stare at each other for a minute or more. Why is that?

What is "Market Value" of an Option?

I frequently bring my "Current Maintenance" amount to within a few dollars of my "Equity with Loan" amount and have had short puts liquidated when IB's margin calculations have resulted in amounts greater than I had figured. For example: I'm short Worldcom $5 puts, so I figure that unless...

    Heard of this site?

The problem with most "picker" services is that the trades unearthed by their systems are usually good in theory, but ignor the reality of thinly traded issues, the thieves on the floor, PDT rule (for some), and the fact that a buck a day * X subscribers is thought to be far more profitable...

Can you place orders before the market opens? (newb question)

And the single most important piece of advice I can give you is figure out exactly how much you are willing to lose before entering every trade. Do not, I repeat, do not hope for a turn-around, do not average down, take the loss and move on to the next trade. Good trades sometimes lose...
