I've never used them but in your position I would definitely recommend www.oanda.com. In my experience, demo platforms tend to be a little more forgiving than the real thing (quicker fills, etc.). If you open a real account you will be in a real trading environment and with Oanda you can trade...

    Baruch's Forex System Journal

I don't mind a loss on any particular trade, after all each trade has a certain probability of winning so each trade also has a probability of a loss. But I do this for a living, trade many times a day, and have top notch technology (exchange member, direct connection, office down the street...

I don't know about others but I'm licking my wounds and indulging in an alcoholic beverage-- losses were not that big but they were losses and I hate f$#king losses. Chaw- what timeframe are you thinking of trading? i.e. daytrading, several days, or longer term? Can you watch the market for...

What's the most I can lose?

Make sure that you have the ability to trade multiple markets and make sure that you will be alerted to an adverse event if you have trades on when you are not monitoring the market. Be familiar with other trading markets so that you will know what is the appropriate hedge for any possible event.

I don't follow this pair but I'd bet that it was safe haven flows into the Swissy because of the Iraqi governing council president's assassination. Prior the the assassination there was another bombing in front of an HSBC bank in Turkey and shortly after there was a small bomb at the Danish...

GFT is good for scalping in EXOTIC pairs ?

The bad pricing is not because of technology, it's intentional on the part of the retail forex broker to give their customers the worst possible prices so the broker makes more money. A retail broker could easily run a fair shop where they base their bid and ask on the EBS bid and ask (but...

    stupid question

Then you definitely have to hedge your portfolio. If you are investing in country with a different currency you can use forwards to protect your future profits. If you don't have a home base and are uncertain where in the world you are going to wind up or you are a perpetual traveler then your...

    stupid question

Yes, if you live in a USD universe and everything that you are ever going to spend money on is priced in US Dollars then you do not have to hedge against dollar depreciation.

    stupid question

Here is the link to the government web site for tips: http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/sec/seciis.htm Check out the tax implications at the bottom of the page..they don't sound very appealing. It seems there are also inflation adjusted savings bonds.

GFT is good for scalping in EXOTIC pairs ?

All retail forex shops are bucketshops to one degree or another. They all take the other side of your trade. The question is do they hedge their overall position in the interbank market? Don't know specifically for GFT but the general pattern seems to be that they don't unless you are...

    stupid question

If you're in the US and plan to remain in the US then you don't need to worry about hedging exchange rates. Just beat the inflation rate and you will be fine.

Why do traders need more than 1 monitor??

I currently use three monitors & three computers. One for my trading platform (TT), one for charts (CQG), and one for news (Bloomberg Pro). I really need to add a fourth so that I don't have to cover up my trading platform while I use the internet.
