so I've been trading for some time but never needed to know all the various ways to add liquidity or get filled in certain ways.
therefore, I have a couple of questions:
lets assume the current spread is
bid: 19.99, ask 20:00
the posted market price is 19.995
I know I can place a...
with a prop firm even the account they give you can have less than 25k in it
the pattern day trader rule only effects retail customers
if you took the series 56 you'd know that
Hello,
when it comes to calculating earnings per share, do you take existing earnings and add it to the next quarter's earnings per share?
lets say EPS is currently 2.50
and the earnings reports actual is earnings per share .80
you add this new .80 to the 2.50 to get an EPS of...
Hello,
So the second market's fundamental problem is that it is supply and demand quote based. Simply placing a large enough order will knock out one side of the book causing price to fluctuate
whereas a block trade negotiated in the third market can just be a large order sent to someone...
that is insightful! although biased toward buy signals only
my question is how did you know to look at analyst actions on 1-8-2011
instead of say... 1-10-2011?
Hello everyone, I was just looking at a heatmap and saw a lot of the outlying issues (in %gain/loss) all had analyst upgrades/downgrades today.
Is there a set schedule for analysts evaluating sets of issues? I would like to know what the industry practice is, thanks.
Hello, lets use this hypothetical situation
The puts implied volatility is too high, the calls implied volatility is too low. I need a strategy to take advantage of this situation if I see it in the future, when there is no catalyst event.
I am looking at some old data for linkedin after...
Hello, I have never done a fundamental analysis of apple
all I know is that they have a high powered growth stock, that is very liquid, they charge a premium for their products and services and people like them enough that they are a market leader in innovation simply because people will...
re: 1) I always plan to close before expiration. But with strangles sometimes both will expire OTM and you can just ignore it. Now I wanted to know if it was possible for the same thing to happen to a straddle
re: 2) ah yes of course. I didn't know thats what you were getting at
Hey guys!
I just spent half the day repairing a trade that is usually a mindless one.
basically, some macro news lifted a whole sector outside my stops, which is just statistically unlikely
For future reference, I would like to base my trade opinions off of upcoming sector news...
Short 1 35 Call
Short 1 35 Put
in an off chance scenario, XYZ expires at 35
both calls are less than .01 ITM and expire worthless?
just curious, not placing bets on that
I use thinkorswim ondemand
you have to
a) be in live trading mode (but onDemand switches you to a new demo account)
b) have your screen resolution large enough
ThinkDesktop simply hides some things if it doesn't fit on screen. You'll never know some features are there.
Can you tell me all the parameters of your Bollinger Bands? for the top and bottom band
can you tell me the SMA's on your MACD?
finally, how well is that working for you? lol.
just asking because I used SMA's a few years ago and some RSI and stochastics. Just seeing if they were still...
yeah, I am looking at some ETFs and indexes....so SPY, QQQ, DIA and sector based ones
and some stocks that cost a lot (over 100/share) to get large positions with low per/share commission cost
Hey guys
What period SMA's do you consider while intraday scalping?
On a 1 minute chart, perhaps a 9 period and 18 period?
on a 5 minute chart, a 10 period and a 20 period?
do you use simple moving averages or exponential moving averages or a combination?
give me your rationale...
