It actually removes a step from the process. By choosing your ECN, you don't have to send your order to your broker, have them decide which is the best ecn and then have it sent on to the ECN. Less process means quicker execution.

Nothing is worth unhappiness in your life, even trading. Have you thought about taking a break for a while? Many traders I know take breaks to clear their minds.

I can tell you that any expenses associated with your girlfriend will not be deductible, unless she is an employee of the LLC(something to look into). As for the meals, meals and entertainment expenses are usually 50% deductible. You should talk to a CPA.

Yeah, I used them in college, and had a similar experience. Tried to cancel an order and no response from their system. The amount I lost was well worth my lesson learned. Don't use datek if your serious. On busy days, they're not as reliable.

Isn't that link a little misleading? I agree IB is a great brokerage. But wouldn't that include Timber Hill and any trading/market-making/hedging they do?

The ED contract, NOT OPTIONS, is well known for being suited to institutions. Many locals complained on its introduction that it was too well suited to the institutions and not small enough for the little guy.

Sure, bids get pulled in the pits. No one knowingly enters a bad trade. My point was would you rather be able to physically observe behavior, such as in the pits, or "trust" human nature on the screen upstairs? I personally would rather have observable behavior.
