    Complete options trading system

Agree with sle and t0ph4t. It all comes down to latency requirements. Not sure how it's less expensive to build everything from scratch. Even if you can do most of it yourself, your time would be better spent on "uttermost important" things. For example, are you getting normalized OPRA data...

    Complete options trading system

So do I understand it correctly that you already have something of your own which you are using to trade live? If so, you must have hacked a large part of your requirements list. Are you trying to create a commercial quality product or simply improve usability/reliability/scalability of your...

Options only portfolio money management and diversification

I do think there is an edge in it, not blindly of course. One of my favorite books is Profiting with iron condor options by Benklifa. But he is saying only sell on days when volatility spikes, have enough time left to expiration, expect to capture about 50% of initial premium. Of course once...

Options only portfolio money management and diversification

It's been said that options premium selling (or any short gamma strategy) is equivalent of "eating like a bird and shitting like and elephant." In other words, they take all their volatility at once which causes them to blow up. Most online advise I follow teaches to sell premium. Then they...

What it takes to develop a profitable trading system?

Very nice post! Can you or anyone (@sle?) comment on something that stops me from diving deeper into options? How do you manage overall exposure? Most online advise I follow says to sell premium. Then they say invest only about 50% of total capital. They say try to diversify, but I don't think...

Has anyone found a profitable auto system ?

So what about companies like Quantopian? If you think about it, people who develop strategies on such platforms effectively selling their strategies. Yes, they keep the IP, but you can't buy the yacht with IP. There are a couple of reasons I can think for a person to sell profitable (still...

Watch videos from below site to get an idea of using multiple un-correlated strategies together. Many other topics covered as well. Just for educational purposes. https://algorithmictrading.net

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Oh, I wish it was that simple. Companies spend a lot of money to find the "right" candidate and still end up with "bad" employees. If you are a senior developer, you spend/waste lots of time interviewing which is not a pleasant experience (at least for a person who just wants to code). I...

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Could be a very rational choice imo. The guy maybe just thinking long term career path. Also being promised 250k of total comp is NOT the same as actually getting it. Not to mention that Wall Street gets a bad rap nowadays, deservedly so imo. For most creative people, after some threshold...

    The millionaire next door

I strongly disagree with you. Coming to US with 0 dollars but most likely with family who cares for you and good education, is not the same as trying to get out of the projects. Most "successful" immigrants were either well educated or doing well already in their country of origin.

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Anyone used toptal, or are they pricing themselves to cater to larger companies?

    The millionaire next door

I was talking from an immigrant's perspective. Being born into poverty is a different issue, but still doubt there is country which offers more opportunities (not just safety net) than US. Just my admittedly limited opinion. Don't have the stats to prove it, just hearing things.

    The millionaire next door

Not meaning to pick a fight, but which country in your opinion has higher economic mobility than US?

    Reaching midpoint

What do you think about bidding/offering at the theoretical option price (assuming its within bid/ask)? Let's say I want to automate my orders, wouldn't theoretical price give me a good real-time benchmark for "fairness?" Let's assume whatever model I use is close enough for my purse.

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Just my opinion - don't try to get best people, get good enough to get things going. Good article on this subject below. The main idea, relevant to this discussion, start ups are willing to sacrifice quality for cost and speed to market.

Best Prop Broker for Day Trading US Stocks?

In below video from SMB Capital, Mike mentions (1:12 minutes into it) that this scalper is paying 0.0007 ($0.70 per 1000 shares traded) in commissions. $0.70 per 1000 shares is pretty good, no? I wander if this rate is only for high volume traders or for anyone trading at the firm. Is...

Lots of exchanges out there. You looking for all of just a few major ones? Which ones?

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

I only tried once, so take it for what it's worth. I got an impression that they want a cookie-cutter type of jobs - something they might have done already and now can easily re-use for other clients (cut-and-paste). When I explained to the guy what I need and that I myself am a developer, I...

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Couldn't agree more. Coding is not expensive. Dealing with non-technical client is very frustrating and time draining. I bet if you can post detailed spec of what you need, you'd get a fair offer on upwork or anywhere else.
