Amazing, Sensex from 1000 to 15,000!!!

I completely agree with most of this. The Chinese economy is much more dependant on being a low cost manufacturing/export engine and attracting FDI. India is focusing on high end intellectual work as well as domestic market development. I also agree with the quality of engineers, and china...

incredible 1.14 mil housholds with over $5 mil assets

I'm not sure why this is hard to believe. The numbers seem pretty easy for me to accept. And the "income" numbers being tossed around here have little to do with net worth as we are talking about assets here.

    Quant?

Rankings of course are very subjective. By no means would I call Baruch a "shit school" . Their MFE program is quite well rounded and has a good reputation. That being said, the reality in the financial world is that "classism" is always present. Who you know, where you went to school, what...

    Quant?

Most quants do not end up managing portfolios or hedge funds although some have. You will need to do post grad work to excel in this area hopefully you love math, programming and modeling. You should probably talk to some of the schools about your goals, some of them are very good in advising...

    14 year old fund manager

Yeah there's a brief mention of him in the latest trader monthly rag....they say he now has his own website & investment newsletter, and he has some ridiculous statement claiming he's the "most experienced 22 year old in the market". Riiiiiiiiight, Ok sure.

Gross: CDO = Hookers in 6 inch heels

Funny. ``AAA? You were wooed Mr. Moody's and Mr. Poor's by the makeup, those six-inch hooker heels and a `tramp stamp,''' Gross said in his monthly commentary posted on Pimco's Web site today. ``Many of these good looking girls are not high-class assets worth 100 cents on the dollar.''...

Book Review; The Black Swan by Nicholas Nassim Taleb

I think Taleb is a brilliant man. I don't care much for his writing style though. There are some good ideas in his books and they definitely make you think. Just be sure you don't take anything he writes as gospel.

Trading book authors that operating a fund or themselves trade today?

The book "Hedgehogging" is great. It's not really a "trading" book but it's an interesting (and refreshing) read compared to the typical trading books. The author manages a billion or so in his fund.

Greenspan said China can't sell Treasuries

He's saying he's not worrying about them dumping them on the open market because of the price impact it would make (not in china's favor). I think he also mentioned something to the tune of "it would hurt them more than the u.s.). That's from my recollection anyway and I only skimmed over the...

CNBC stock picking show defrauded by contestants

Their contest was a joke anyway. Limited products available for trading, no shorting, etc. Oh, and the way the trade "execution" (time/price) was setup was just pathetic.
