ETF - priced by underlying or trades ??

One stock would never be 30% of an ETF... maybe max 3%... So the question is kinda pointless. Liquid ETFs are very efficiently traded. Many firms have very sophisticated, proprietary software that values ETFs in real-time... And 1 ms routing... Which requires a 6 or 7 figure...

    Sometimes I wonder why ...

You "research" is worthless. In fact... It likely is WORSE than worthless... And locks you into a ** negative expectation **. Because... It puts you on the opposite side as all the insiders that are trading a sure thing. U seems to learn real slow.

    Sometimes I wonder why ...

The "15% dividend yield" never existed. When you see "yields" that high... The dividend has probably been slashed or suspended... And BANKRUPTCY is a probability. The fact that you do not understand even the most basic stuff about dividends... Strongly implies that your "research" is...

Mortgage Crisis Slams California: Porsche and Home Sales Plunge; Restaurants Suffer

It's always the USUAL SUSPECT spamming Real Estate Horror Stories. Yawn... 1,000,000 times. Meanwhile, back in reality... The analysis below explains... 14% of US mortgages are "subprime"... And of these 13% are > 30 days overdue. So 1.8% of US residential mortgages... Are "subprime"...

    dual wan router, hotbrick

I have both the Hotbrick LB-2 and the Xincom DPG502. The hardware is IDENTICAL... Made in the same factory in Taiwan... But painted differently... With SLIGHTLY different firmware. For both these routers you must CHOSE: (a) load balancing OR (b) failover And, in theory...

    How to forecast implied volatility?

This thread is moronic... And explains why brokers have Big Yachts. All you people who think that future prices and/or volatility can be predicted... Should stop trading immediately.

Scorsese and DiCaprio Together again for Wolf of Wall Street

I suppose Leo and Marty will re-make The Godfather next. Or maybe put Leo is the jungle and re-make Apocalypse Now.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Mr. Bright has it exactly right. Pro traders "partially automate" existing profitable strategies... And then constantly evolve and adapt everything to changing markets... And ongoing maintenance of Automation is expensive. ATS is manned by experienced Pros for an insurmountable reason...

Is Interactive Brokers a reliable platform for an unattended ATS?

Listen to RockFish. This is an ** absolute prerequisite **. ATS are always manned by highly experienced Pros. When I see fantasy talk of "unattended" ATS... I know it's an amateur with no serious money on the line... Or someone too irresponsible to be managing money. And IB is as...

( floor )- Traders' cries silenced-

MONEY. This is exactly what a Quant looks for in a trader. You want raw talent and Zero Sum Game experience... But cannot waste your time "deprogramming" some dude with erroneous or out-dated beliefs.

    Cramer unbelievable "caught on tape"

Bright is roughly a $50-100 million firm... Built from scratch by a group of hard-nosed Las Vegas businessmen... In a highly competitive industry... in a cutthroat town. This whole Cramer thread is a variation on the "Straw Man" rhetorical device... (From an Absolute Master of rhetorical...

    Open Letter to Interactive Brokers

This is a good post... One reason to view any IB IPO as risky and overvalued... Is their ** Cultural Unsuitability **... For any serious Enterprise. In my experience... A small firm with a 7 figure account doing 500 trades/day... Is treated exactly the same as a dead-in-the-water...

    Cramer unbelievable "caught on tape"

I did mean to directly tie Bright to Cramer... Only in the sense that both are High Profile parts of a vertically integrated Securities Industry... And have precisely the same goals: To transfer wealth from the Public to the Securities Industry. Cramer is a total sleazebag who sold his...

    Cramer unbelievable "caught on tape"

Helloooo. The Securities Industry exists to take your money. If you don't understand that... Or think any of this is "unbelievable"... stop trading today. That includes Cramer, Bright, ET, etc. These people are a lot smarter than you are... And have 1001 tried and true ways... To...

    IB server down

Yes... IB does listen... And often makes welcome changes... And in spite of occasional frustrating issues... IB is still the only game in town for what I do. And they do FABULOUS things... Like lowering my commissions twice in 18 months... And paying interest on my short position... And...

    IB server down

I looked at #2185. Unfortunately, it's a request that IB change is culture. Since ideology comes before business at IB... At least until the IPO... and shareholder activists put IB management's feet to the fire.

    IB server down

As a software engineer... I very, very seriously doubt that "delete all my temp internet files"... Would in any way resolve TWS connection problems for specific accounts. IB Tech Support just made you jump through some hoops... Until the problem was fixed/resolved ** at their end. **...

The next war in Afghanistan and Iran

Wrong speech and wrong thread. The Nancy Reagan forum is further down the page. Afghanistan flooding Easter Europe with zillions of tons of heroin... May not be looked upon kindly by EE governments.

    IB server down

This has been COMMON in 2007. One account will connect... Another account on same network will not connect. Not having backup, redundant auto-failover servers... To completely eliminate connection problems that breakdown by account... Puts IB at least 10 years behind responsible...
