It is a buy and a sale.... you need both to have a trade, so there is no reason to say "bought 100 at the ASK and sold 100 at the ASK" since you cannot buy unless someone sells. So you just say "it traded", "it printed", "it hit the tape", etc... :)

Time and sales prints the bid and ask.... (when there is a difference there is no trade) It also prints trades.... (when the buy and the sale are the same price) :)

I think it is really more like this... It is likley that your broker turns its line off at 4:00pm EST. The exchange can receive cancellations past 4:00pm, but your broker (to make programming easier and order handling) likely turns off ability to route there at 4:00pm. This is why...

Depends on where the stop resides... your broker or the exchange or ECN... Brokers make their own rules... just ask them. Exchanges go off the last trade. ECNs can vary... but most use the bid ask since they may have a thinner OTC stock... Options almost always go off the bid or ask...

The option exchanges have liquidity reports so you can see what exchange trades the most volume for which stock. The PCX or PHLX may be the best place to trade your particular stock.... even though (last I checked) they are coming in last on overall liquidity. :)

Are you a retail account? If so then you probably have a cash balance. If you never use margin then you are not charged interest. Cash in the account earns interest, investing with more than your cash costs you interest. :)
