Test to assess your risk intelligence

It doesn't matter whether you get the questions right or wrong. It has to do with how certain you are when you are wrong.

ES: Why so many buy orders 1 tick below sunday's opening bar

Yes, I've considered that after getting creamed by the reversal trying to buy breakouts. It usually does seem to come back about 4-6 ticks midday (at least it did when I reseached it last spring). But it this case, with the thin sunday night market it doesn't seem like a wise strategy...

ES: Why so many buy orders 1 tick below sunday's opening bar

It's kind of a lot for sunday night, especially in comparison with the other levels. But looking at the chart it's seems unusual that anyone would really want to buy at that level. I'd think they'd either want to buy the low itself, or sell if it broke the low.

ES: Why so many buy orders 1 tick below sunday's opening bar

I've been watching the ES tonight, and I noticed that there are a ton of buy orders 1 tick below the low price of the session, which occurred during the opening 1 minute bar. They've been there ever since I noticed them a few minutes after the open. Does anybody know what this is? Is it...

Total newb question on index futures data feed

Yes, they ultimately all come from the same place, the exchange, at least all the major index futures do (CME, CBOT, etc.) I think that open/close values can be slightly different due to filtering or the exact time your quote provider cuts off the end of the day. I've seen tradestation...

How is the dollar doing this weekend?

Hi Everyone. Please excuse my ignorance about currencies, I trade stocks and futures. I'm trying to get a clue about how the dollar has done this weekend so that I can get a jump on Monday. But I can't find any info online that is more recent than Friday. So, can anyone tell me if the...

Test to assess your risk intelligence

I came across this mildly intriguing little test that claims to assess your "risk intelligence". I think it covers only one small aspect of risk but I still found it interesting. http://www.projectionpoint.com/index.php Make sure your clear your cookies before starting if you don't want...

    Collective2 hacked

As it happens I am a responsible for a website that provides billing services so I know a little bit about this topic. They don't need to keep the credit card numbers; their gateway will do that for them and facilitate the monthly billing.

    Collective2 hacked

What does Collective2 do that they need to keep your credit card numbers on file? That in itself is bad practice. You're not supposed to keep that information if you don't absolutely have to.

    TRadestation futures

I'm very happy trading ES and YM with tradestation. The only times I've had bad fills are during a high velocity move after an announcement, or right at the instant of the open. Even then it's only a tick or two.

    How not to overtrade?

There are two things that worked for me when I realized that I needed to beat the same issue. The first is that I started trading on a larger time frame and taking more risk per trade. That makes each trade more serious in my mind. In my case, it was a move from trying to catch 3 minute...

How to research and verify trading ideas

You mentioned that you thought you were ignored when you posted your S&P500 add/drop system. I just wanted to let you know that I was paying attention, and I'm sure many others were too. I'm going to back test it soon and see how it works. I think it looks very promising because it doesn't...

    Your Money or Your Life

This is a great book. It really turned my financial life around about 15 years ago. I can't recommend it enough, even if you think you've got everything under control.

    LBR's ANTI indicator

Does anyone know how to code Linda Raschke's Anti indicator? I bought the book and it specifies a 7 period %K stochastic and 10 period %D stochastic. But it doesn't give any more details and I'm not sure how to map those values onto the stochastic formula given here on Wikipedia...

Can we see who has "ignored" us?

I've been reluctant to use the ignore feature because I didn't want to miss anything. Even the worst trolls occasionally post something worthwhile. And I'd hate to ignore someone who was just having a bad day. But I've started giving it a chance for repeat offenders... and now I'm hooked...

    Bucket Shop Arbitrage

I don't know why everyone is so down on Sodajerk. The strategy he mentions is very old and very well known. Several big time traders in the Market Wizards book used the exact same strategy, whenever different marketplaces would diverge. Since the divergences are somewhat random, you take...

Can we see who has "ignored" us?

mxjones: Why the hostility? How could that post have possibly provoked you? I challenged someone who was acting smug and self-satisfied to look deeper. He responded by "ignoring" me. That's what got me thinking about it. Then I realized that to be able to see the list of ignorers, or at...
