Interactive Brokers customer support totally broken

I've been with IB for 13 years and I've never had to call customer service (yes, I do trade). You on the other hand seem to require hand holding every day.

Judge sides with Airbnb in suit from US apartment landlord

Oops I read the OP too fast. Yeah, Airbnb wasn't at fault, just the tenants.

Amazing. I’ve tried to give away my methodology...

Normies (those falling within 1 standard deviation) just want to go to work for 8 hours 5 days a week, get paid, go home and drink beer and watch NFL football. Don't be surprised that most people are normies.

    trading tech patent troll

What's a CNET trade alert have to do with trading tech patent trolls?

Judge sides with Airbnb in suit from US apartment landlord

That's a very, very weak decision. Dodged a bullet is right. As a landlord myself I absolutely would not want random strangers staying in my unit without my knowledge or approval.

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

There are plenty of college students who'll do it for beer money. :D

    Programming: open source licenses

I've used open source software in various forms in commercial applications for years. You absolutely have to be careful of licensing. e.g. GPL absolutely sucks in this case. If you use GPL code in your application the license says you're supposed to release the source code of the entire...

    Image hosting

Yup, absolutely that's the best way. I've found threads on other forums on the internet from 5+ years ago that still have their text but the images are gone. Sometimes those images were crucial to understanding the post. Frequently the image host went out of business, sometimes it's because...

    Alternative to QT

I've been through this myself. I've used Qt in the past for work but for my own purposes it's too heavy and intrusive. The first alternative I used for a couple of years was wxWidgets. It's actually pretty nice and has a lighter-weight framework than Qt. I recently switched from wxWidgets to...

    Quick pandas question

Don't be scared by databases. You don't need to set up a MySQL/MariaDB server. I use SQLite all the time and it's great for organizing data. Instead of being server based, SQLite is file based. You have access to all the normal SQL syntax, table structures, primary keys, etc. Best yet...

0 bid price on an option? (beginner)

Time to expiry and distance OTM. If the option is expiring soon say < 1 week the 0 bid options will be closer to ATM. This isn't really liquidity but simply option value decreasing as expiry nears. Option prices are frequently in 0.05 increments so in those cases you might see 0.05 ask, 0.00 bid.

Steroids and Protein Shakes Keep Old People out of Hospital

I'm sure I'll draw flak for this but only the first 2 items are essential. If you eat a good diet and go outside regularly you don't need to take vitamin supplements.

Trump Tax Reform - a total squeeze on middle class W2 workers

Wow we actually agree on something. The mortgage interest deduction is like federally subsidized student loans: both are social engineering programs that create artificial inflation.

    Switching to Linux from Win10

I'm in a similar situation running Linux on an old craptop with 4GB. Firefox runs horribly probably due to lack of RAM. Instead I use Opera on that machine which is much leaner. I won't use Chrome.

    Switching to Linux from Win10

You're probably right about Macs. I've never used a Mac simply because I never needed to. Most of my technology choices are based on what I've used at work which is mostly Linux with some Windows thrown in for email, documentation etc.
