    EBAY

The eBay/Paypal fee to the seller is approx 13% of the total transaction value (including shipping). Years ago they only charged the fee on the item price. But now they charge fees on both the item price and shipping charge because sellers used to list a very low price for the item along with...

Most cost effective way to protect against black swan event?

Here is another book on this topic. I haven't read it myself, so just making you aware of it (not a personal recommendation):

    Futures Trading Volume 2016

From the perspective of a trader, I'm interested in contracts that have good liquidity and are efficient to trade (low bid/ask spread). So contract volume works for me. From the perspective of the FIA and their sell-side constituents, they are interested in fees. So contract volume works for...

    Futures Trading Volume 2016

This annual report by the FIA is an interesting read for futures traders. Shows where the trading activity is and how it's changed since the previous year. If you want to keep it for reference, suggest you save the PDF to your local drive because I don't know how long this link will work...

    Mean reversion basket

Actually, it's only plausible if you could take a position in the moving average itself as a trading instrument. Then you could buy/sell the primary trading instrument and take an offsetting position in the moving average. Sooner or later, they will converge and you will have your reversion...

Is there any risk in using antiperspirants or deodorants?

We still don't know what causes cancer. Preservatives in processed food? Fluoride in water? Aluminum in deodorant? Who knows???

Is there any risk in using antiperspirants or deodorants?

Does this one apply easily? I tried another brand of a Magnesium deod stick and it was very hard and chalky. The instructions say to hold it in your underarm for a moment to warm and soften it, but I don't have the time or patience for that.

    1 TB Backup HDD Failing

I'm surprised that Dell would configure your drives as RAID 0, which is striping for speed. There is no redundancy in RAID 0, making the "R" in RAID 0 a misnomer. With blazing fast SSD's in modern PC's, does anyone even use RAID 0 anymore?

    License Plate

So I'm stopped in traffic and I happen to notice the license plate on the car in front of me. I say to myself, "I've gotta snap a photo of this for ET". I don't know what the "VV" represents, so that's a puzzle. To add to the mystery, when I downloaded the photo to my PC and zoomed in for a...

Is there any risk in using antiperspirants or deodorants?

I remember having this discussion in my college biology class decades ago. Since sweating is a normal process in the body, the instructor told us that antiperspirants were potentially unhealthy because they blocked or in some way suppressed the release of sweat. But a lot of people use...

    Daytrading with stochastics

Candlesticks were originally developed for use on daily bars which correspond to a full session. There's a rational basis for modeling a session with a candlestick as the open, close, high, and low have a stronger meaning for a logical session. Candlesticks were never intended to be used for...

    Daytrading with stochastics

Good question, but in a word, "no". If you ever discovered a pattern or indicator that would do this with consistency, you would have the Holy Grail and become fabulously wealthy very quickly.

    High probability Breakouts

There are no obvious high probability technical setups. Any indicator or pattern setups that work are probably a very well guarded secret. The obvious highest probability breakout setups are for events, e.g. earnings reports, FDA approvals, M&A announcements, etc. The rub is when you have a...

List of CME Exchange Traded Spreads?

That's certainly a fair and accurate statement. The counterpoint is that creative/custom spreads are usually synthetic and you're trading some distinctive combo that nobody else is looking at, perhaps giving you a little edge. The tradeoff is the headaches that come with the larger bid-ask...

    volatile or stocks that move?

The ATR is a good indicator of volatility (in absolute terms). If you're more interested in the movement in relative terms, just divide the ATR by the closing price.

I haven't noticed that. Since TWS is a bloated java application, my suggestion is to check if your Java is updated to the current release.

    trading futures

I'm not sure if I understand your reply. But if you're suggesting that the high volume in ES will ensure continuous pricing so that you get filled at your stop loss, that is not necessarily true. Slippage and price gaps occur in all markets. That's what makes options appealing, because they...
