Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

I've started to track and contribute to this thread and have a question. I will cull through all the old posts to check but thought maybe I could get a quick answer otherwise. When calculating dryup I would conceptually think you'd be looking for the pattern of volume just prior to each 20%...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

I spent quite a bit of time earlier in the year watching this thread but never got around to implementing it until recently when I saw the 1 year results (Outstanding! Great job!). Never being one to take the easy route I decided to try a few variations and if I stick w/ it I'll let everyone...

I'm also relatively new at this but BOOM and GMXR do not have highband volume > today's (11/15) volume, which I believe is one of the requirements for entry. (This turns the chart green on the scan). Therefore, I don't think that they qualify, but I could be wrong.

Anyone running Windows XP 64bit ?

I wanted to get a high powered Dell a few months back and they had a big special on memory (4GB for price of 2GB) if you got a bundle w/ x64 so I got it. At this point I'm running a 3HZ system w/ the 4GB memory duel core w/ x64 and it is much faster than my "old" 2.3GHZ system w/ 1GB memory...

Using the market as a trading factor

I trade mostly equities and have been working continually on building and adapting systems and rules to trade by to remove as much emotion as possible (or all). Anyway, I've worked on a number of systems/strategies that obviously do better in some periods rather than in others. It got...

I have started trying to trade using this strategy just today. I had VIVO on my list but according to my 30 minute graph the Stoch wasn't over 80 at 11 am when volume exceeded the low band (my stoch didn't hit 80 until around 12:30 whenl the price was around 22.18 or higher) If my chart...

First, Spydertrader and everyone else, thanks for your efforts. This is one of the, if not the best, thread on this board. I have been studying your posts for quite a while and am trying to implement the system and I have a question. It is my understanding from reading everything that...

    Charting a basket of stocks

This is from AmiBroker help...Hope it is what you might be looking for, although it requires a small amount of programming. AddToComposite function opens up a huge variety of interesting applications. The following examples will help you understand what you can do with AddToComposite...

    Charting a basket of stocks

I use AmiBroker and havn't used this feature yet, but it has an "add composite" feature which I think allows you to accumulate stocks into one item. I'm not 100% sure, but worth checking out. It can also read Esignal data, which is what I use to feed it data.

IB Advisor Friends & Family account

When you open a F&F account do they "assume" you are a professional and charge higher fee for data access (professional fee rather than max of $10/account)? Or, can you still be considered an amateur...?

    MetaStock vs. TradeStation

One thing I use AmiBroker for is backtesting a concept against a wide range of securities (all NASDAQ for instance) for a long period of time. I don't think TS can do backtesting of a portfolio of stocks; I think you have to individually select and apply the strategy to each one. If I'm...

    DELL

If you like Dell and think it has bottomed the best play right now I believe is to SELL the puts. You can bring in $1.20 for some Nov 35's - meaning if Dell has bottomed and the stock just stays where it is or goes up the $1.20 is in your pocket - and if you are wrong you'll end up owning...

Have the skills, but lost and all alone.

I have/had both a programming and financial background and went through some of the same decision making a little less than a year ago. I initially looked at a few things but initially settled (so far) on a 2 pronged approach. I may change this at some point. I do have Tradestation, but...

    Using The Darvas System

Toby: I saw your note about scanning. For what its worth, I use Amibroker for end of day scans and use it to download end of day data for free from Yahoo. I have built some fairly simple formulas to do the scans and it scans my ticket list (about 8000 stocks from nasdaq, nyse, amex)...

    Using The Darvas System

Thanks for the reply. I had not included the 2 x low, although I know that is in the book so I may incorporate it. My initial confusion was I didn't come up w/ LUB when I ran my scan so I thought maybe I had the wrong criteria. When I went back to look at LUB today I realized why - and...

    Using The Darvas System

I read the book about a month ago and created (and modified a different) EOD scan in Amibroker for the boxes, or stocks that seem to currently be in a box. I noticed that a few that you just bought didn't make it into the stocks that I found and was trying to figure out why. Can you share...

    Mike's Swing Trading Journal

Yep. Can you explain by using that or MON as an example what makes you decide on that specific stock to "pull the trigger?"

I guess it takes some experience because I'm not seeing the entry points clearly. I'll keep learning. Nice job. Mike L.
