    Trader P/L 2010

There are a few traders still lurking and making money. Trading just sucks for most. One day the herd will be culled for the next round of volatility, but no one knows when. Hopefully its 2011 because we are all dead in 2012 anyways!! :D

How to avoid darkpools. Its a question.

No of course not. Every trade on listed securities goes on the tape. The internalization you are probably thinking of just means that the shares are never displayed and traded on an ECN or exchange.

NYSE Breaks Trades of S&P 500 ETF Showing 9.6% Plunge

I realize its hip and cool to disagree with stock777, but he is right on this one (sans the name calling) Technical errors dont overide clearly erroneous. If it had printed down $1-2 thats another story, but 10% isnt fair for anyone.

October 11, 2010 Thomas Peterffy Speech at the World Federation of Exchanges

Thomas Peterffy has to be one of the most underrated trading geniouses alive. How he can consistently make markets on 300,000 symbols and make money is beyond me. His views on internalization are bang on. Having someone sub penny the NBBO is not price discovery, and will lead to flash crashes...

    Title Trading

I still think that if you are a new trader you just dont have enough perspective to really see things clearly. This market is brutal. The smartest people I know are down 50-90% of what they made in 2009. Branches are closing left right and center... its not just title, every day trader monkey...

    Prop firms in Canada

I didnt know any trading companies were 'up and coming' these days... Granted this is a large assumption, but 'up and coming' generally means shaving rates and poaching traders. I would bet money Everest capital hasnt 'taught' anyone anything...

    Title Trading

I still work there and I think they are fine. Trading just sucks and its almost impossible for newbies to scalp money as a beginner... Not surprised they cant teach you anything... its not your fault its just a numbers game.

Newbie looking for a Prop Firm in Montreal

I heard swifttrade montreal was the best branch. They have this guy there that makes tons of money and is super cool. He is a legend. He is known to dress VERY well at work. He'll be easy to recognize when you go in.

I recognize both the names of the co founders. One was a Millenium trader at Swift trade back in the day, the other I believe was a branch manager for Golden Market Management in Kelowna. Im not sure if they still both trade, do private financing, or maybe find deals and take a cut off traders?

Arthur Laffer and his Supply-Side nonsense bite the dust

In 2006 the dollar index was 90, now its 83. GLD was 60, now its 120. Heng Seng was 16000, now its 21000. etc? Peter Schiff lost money?

    Peter Schiff forecasts a depression

I can't wait till the correlation of risk aversion/down market and up USD breaks. Its going to be a shit show, and I literally percolate with excitement thinking of the day. Can't be that much longer can it?

    Bright Trading's new payout model

In a lot of strategies I have observed that profitable entry points can be quite crowded, and become more crowded as more and more traders and capital are committed to the strategy. I know there are a million pair combinations you can come up with, but with fills the way they are, I wondered if...

    Bright Trading's new payout model

What would be the benefit of the profitable Vancouver stat arb group giving up half the profits of their systems to other traders? If they made a lot of money and had adequate capital, wouldn't it be more profitable to keep it to themselves?

    Bright Trading's new payout model

I personally have enjoyed Mav's posts. Don is very experienced both in the industry and with words, so it takes someone of equal stature to really get a good discussion going. With all the Bright fanboy's and determined haters on ET, this civil discussion has shed some light on information that...

When does the Bright Hedge fund open? 80% loss, 'minimized' with options, then you caught a buy out and made 'a few million'! Not like you to brag!

    Seeking Advice: Title Trading Interview

I think this thread is a good indication of the life and times of this type of prop in general. Very very VERY few people in this type of environment are making money from what I know, so you can't expect to walk into a branch and get a risk free start. Of course in my head I think that a...

Don, Is hedging a loss into a win (as you have called it) not a mechanical process? Why doesn't Bright just run a hedge fund with billions and take losing positions that turn into winners with hedges all the time?
