nothing wrong with throwing 300 bucks on that trade. if its just 1 dollar ITM out of sheer luck you could have a 10K profit. or lose 300 bucks, but use it as a tax write off. You dont get that with lotto tickets. :)

Options for me are very good. I only work the SPY ETF options market. For me its about providing better returns with less volatility.

It depends but it would be a combination at times. I am still outperforming the S&P 500 by a good margin. I took advantage of the VIX in the 40's and shorted puts to go long SPY and at least be compensated for the risk vs just buying naked stock. I am outperforming by a greater margin right now...

I hear so many scary storys about them even liquidation positions that make no sense. Thats why I avoid them. I dont want some computer liquidation my account for no reason. I would never open an IB account.

Sipc of onLy 250k for cash and 500k for securities is too damn low. They really need to increase it. It is annoying to have to have to manage and trade with different brokerage accounts. Etrade spreads the account across multiple banks to give you 1.2m fdic for the cash sweep. For some reason...

okay it looks like SIPC is only 250 for cash. how safe is TD Ameritrade? I have cash in other accounts to cover potential assignment (ie etrade has 1.250mm) but TD does not seem to offer an extended FDIC like etrade

I shorted puts on the SPY late evening today and now I have cash wise 322K in cash. now this cash is the premium collected for the puts. is this cash only covered by SIPC which means anything over 250 is at risk? or does SIPC cover this? not sure what the situation is regarding counter party risk.

The problem is Doctors are smart in a narrow field but everything else is out of the picture. They spend 8 years in school and little "Street smarts" experience. They are sheep for the shearing.

Slippage on buying metal is terrible. Its not a good active trading instrument.
