    TBT long play

No way they will do QE3 before the elections ~ our economy is getting in better and better shape although it's still far from good. It's possible that we support the Euros in some way in LOTRO-3-something. Still getting killed on TBT but at least I also did that TLT spread which I will...

    Realtime or Delayed Greeks

You can register for a free account (unfunded) at optionshouse.com and get delayed greek quotes - although I don't know off hand I'm sure there are other brokers that do the same. ps at OH you should use the custom chain and then select whichever greeks you want ~

    Please help me understand this.

Your problem is that you're thinking you can sell at the ask price of 31.35 - the bid/ask is 29.70/31.35 and you'd probably be lucky to get 30.30 - the midpoint is 30.52 and you're not going to get 30.50 ... If you're going to do covered calls you have to ask yourself if you're a good stock...

    Iron Condor for the newbie

Take my advice and don't do it. As a noob options trader the last thing you should be trading are ICs. The market has been too volatile over the past few years as big money pushes up and down too fast in short time frames. I know the allure of making 10% a month sounds good on paper and...

anyone use options on EUO for their 'cheap' euro shorts?

This is a debit spread cost me about 2.20 ~ both spreads could be ITM at some point before Jan 13 ~ lol

anyone use options on EUO for their 'cheap' euro shorts?

I picked up the FXE Jan 13 140-150 call spread and 115-105 put spread today. A big swing either way and I'd sell out - take profits and double down the other side if there is enough time or look then at Jan 14. I think we're going to see alot more volatility in the rest of 2012 then the...

    Pcln Rolling Over

The 650-550 put spread cost me ~25$ so my max risk is 2500 and max gain is 7500. Right now I'm up about 9-10$ on the spread (900-1000$ profit.) I'd probably would have closed if I was closer to 2k profit as I'm pretty bear-ish right now, but I'd take the profit and run. (I'm long alot of...

anyone use options on EUO for their 'cheap' euro shorts?

I thought about trade like this all weekend. I like debit spread idea - FXE spread might be easier to get filled, but you'd have to go longer or shorter strikes (then Nov). One thing to consider is when Greece exits is after the initial Euro fall (10% sounds possible) - I think we could see...

Bull Call Spreads vs. Bull Put Spreads

Thread derailed - Falcon check PM. Don - NICE Caddy ! Always wanted an old one like that - Grandpa had one growing up (hardtop), but the idea of parking in San Fran with one of those makes me LOL. All I can say to the restaurant part of this convo is thank GOD I live in San Francisco ! You...

ITM Put Which Is Not Exercised At Expiration

Dang got beat by seconds with quote... Robert did they ever come up with a system that allows you to exercise early if a stock was halted ? I know there were several high profile Chinese stocks that got halted and the put buyers got screwed cause the last trading price was not ITM for...

ITM Put Which Is Not Exercised At Expiration

This is posted all over TD: "It has been standard practice for US-listed options to automatically exercise all long equity options positions that are at least $0.05 in-the-money. Starting with the standard equity expiration on June 21, 2008 and effective for all equity expirations thereafter...

    Realistic option strategies

If you can find someone who says they've made money in Iron Condors over the past 5 years... I doubt they're telling the truth. Now if you want to pick one side or the other then I think you'd be better off. Stay small and stick to liquid options. There are too many things out there...

Bull Call Spreads vs. Bull Put Spreads

Falconview - the minimum I'd look at strikes right now is Sept and Oct or Jan 13 is fine. I don't like shorter duration strikes and try to get out 2 months before. To play direction you have to believe that something is going up or down. As an example: Since Mid March I've been very...

    TBT long play

That guy is wrong IMO ~ he's predicting a rally in the stock market TLT and SPY moving up together since October just doesn't make sense. Come August assuming the market doesn't go crazy one way or another it will be very interesting to see where TLT/TBT are trading as Operation Twist...

Bull Call Spreads vs. Bull Put Spreads

I'm sure that works for some people but I tend to be directional, and I don't generally have patience to hold to expiration (or even close). The reason that is relevant is if I'm long both sides then I get stuck trying to figure out when is enough profit on one side (expecting the other side...

Bull Call Spreads vs. Bull Put Spreads

Debit means you pay for the spread and credit means you get money from the spread. I do not recommend credit spreads for beginners ~

    US upcoming events ?

I don't follow politics too much but um what's coming up before the election ? Do we have major budget deadlines coming up ? or anything ?

Bull Call Spreads vs. Bull Put Spreads

I wouldn't put on a trade just to make 100$ so I'm less concerned about commissions ... better to be patient and work a trade to get an extra penny or nickel then to worry about commissions IMO. The ease of doing it my way and avoiding mistakes is worth the extra expense (to me). I don't...
