Our firm clears thru Penson. My statements/positions/etc. are usually readily available and fairly accurate, afaik. You guys are talking like Penson is the red-headed step child of clearing. Is there something you guys want to share? :confused:

If a stock reports earnings the last week of expiry, more times than not the atm straddle will not decay at all until after report. According to Earningswhisper, they report Wednesday before the open, so not sure when they report. Good luck.

"On The Money" on cnbc reported tonight that a board member of Dow Jones(I forgot his name), is related to the defendants. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

If they delay the decision, a RC spread would put you in a world of hurt. My own anecdotal observation is that odds are slightly in favor of a delay. I'm going to buy a ratioed calendar, short more May's.

Why would the exchanges care? As long as ppl are executing orders there, that's all that matters to them. The mm's on the other hand, are the one's crying foul. Being short all those wings into a takeover has blowout written all over it.

There is a different formula to calculate moneyness from delta. The main difference lies in the interest rates, and for stock options, the dividends. But the difference is usually relatively small. Unless of course interest rates are through the roof, and the stock pays an extraordinary large...

I can see it now.(assuming u trade thru IB) After you liquidate the position and request a wire from IB to collect your profits, some obsure security measure was tripped and you don't see the cash until late 2009. :D

I certainly would love to trade this against retail paper, but our office doesn't have access to any futures, much less VBI futs for that matter. :(
