Consistently Profitable Traders - Going Red to Black

Interesting, your belief in fatalism, predetermination of trading success is very strong. May I ask what supporting evidence do you have to support this? Don't take it personally but you seem to be suggesting, that you are natures gift to trading.

Consistently Profitable Traders - Going Red to Black

I agree, success at trading takes time. Nature vs Nurture, talent vs hard work is an old debate. Most people think of Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods as the most talented players of our time, but they both credit hard work for their success...someone mentioned Picasso, most don't realize he had a...

Oil spill, rush limbaugh has it right when he says oil spills are part of gods plan, no need to clean them up. Oil spill is as natural as ocean water he said. It is...

POLL: Do you principally use a time-based, tick-based, or volume-based chart?

I am sure by 2015 tradestation will have sub-minute charts. They are on a upward trajectory. You sure did get gabfly all excited about the 1 second chart.

POLL: If you trade intraday, do you use sub-one-minute charts in your trading?

sure, I was just joking around Mark. You know that is an interesting chart comparsion link you posted. If someone is a intraday trend trader, that 133 tick/volume based chart looks much smoother and easier to trade. may I ask why you prefer time based charts...

POLL: Do you principally use a time-based, tick-based, or volume-based chart?

proflogic must be on vacation, otherwise, i would have thought mr volume would have issued a strong rebuttal by now. I use volume charts, I tend to think they show trends better. also much better representation of overnight action. PS. Interestingly tradestation and lot of other vendors...

POLL: Do you principally use a time-based, tick-based, or volume-based chart?

You are showing some unusual talent there mr gabfly for polling; you may have a future as a pollester, preferably a political pollester. 2012 presidential election - Barack Obama vs the most dangerous words in english language (sarah palin for president)

    Astrology and magical thinking

I find this all somewhat humorous, but I heard there are financial astrologers in NYC charging $5000 an hour. Apparently just like a human birth chart, they are able to produce a birth chart of a company, I guess IPO date etc. I once saw an article in Newsweek, about Laura Day, she charges...

    Unattended Automated Trading

hmm, interesting. May I ask others who trade unattended automated what is the frequency of your trading? I traded stock index futures on a day trade basis, generating 2-3 RT trades a day. Swing traded 4 stocks, holding period of 1-3 days, the swing trading would generate about a dozen RT...

    Unattended Automated Trading

Yes, that is correct, I use tradestation. I am what BP chairman calls 'small people', a small retail trader. A position mismatch in TS is when the stratergy says I should be long but I am either flat or at worse short. Over a three year period I ran into all sorts of issues, from hardware...

    Unattended Automated Trading

Having a non-trading full time job, I traded unattended fully automated both equities and futures for about 3 years. This is during market hours 9:30AM - 4PM EST. Overtime I greatly imporved the trading logic to handle most issues. I had logic built in to send emails when orders were filled...

Some of you guys are too fragile to be successful

You sounds like Phil Gramm (John McCains top economic advisor), who in August of 2008 told us that we are a nation of whiners, time to get tough, stop complaining about the economy, suck it up. Its a mental recession.

    Struggling with staying focused

So I took 1/2 the 5 hour energy drink at 9AM and other 1/2 at 1PM to fight the afternoon slump. Other than quick bathroom breaks and few minutes to fix lunch, I had no problem today at all staying focused, from 9:15AM to about 3:30PM I sat infront of the screen watching the grass grow(price...

    Struggling with staying focused

Great, many good ideas. Thank you for your replies. I was trying to do the total immersion thing, god knows 6 1/2 hours in the comfort of ones home is not that long. For tomorrow I am going to try that 5 hour energy drink, 8000% dose of vitamin B, should be interesting...
